Portal Gun Comparison?

On second thought, the prop in the video may be a self-produced one as the Aperture logo on the body is a little different. Hard to tell about the electronics since they enhanced the light-up parts with special effects.

Wow! You are correct:

"The gun you see through out the whole video is this gun, it is not a physical prop. The physical prop that this model is replacing is actually a painted up coffee can with tracking markers. Breakdowns will follow. Modeled in Maya, Textured in Zbrush, Composited in After Effects. I took custom HDR photos of each room of my house to help light it accurately to what ever room I would be using it in."

That is extremely impressive. I watched it again and it still looks like a prop to me.

Anyway, back to the original question - how does the commercial prop made by Neca and sold through places like Think Geek compare to the prop kits sold on the RPF?

I hope he doesn't mind, but here is a shot taken from Volpin's Facebook page showing his gun (on the left) next to the NECA gun. (on the right...with the signatures)

It's the only seeming comparison I know of.
