POLAR LIGHTS new movie ENTERPRISE

Wonderfest has been in Louisville every year for quite some time...it made the front page of COurier Journal's entertainment section of Friday's paper.

Go to www.wonderfest.com for info on past shows and next year's show.

I believe it is one of the largest sci-fi/fantasy/horror model and garage kit gatherings of its kind in the entire world.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't know that. I feel kind of dumb now. :lol

So is this model not coming out for awhile? I'd like to get it. If nothing else to add to my collection of unbuilt things.

Any pictures of the actual model yet? I've been obssessed with getting my hands on a good looking version of this ship in some form.

There is no actual model yet - it's in the "announce/solicit" phase, I think. However, most people don't realize that the new movie Ent is HUGE. A 12" model is no where near 1/350th - closer to 1/1000th I think? It's HUGE. John Eaves said something to the effect of the new ship being a length of like 2,300 feet and change...

Uh, that's the 1:350 Refit re-release, not the Enterprise from the new film.

Hhhhh! Sorry . . . to me TMP still SEEMS like the new movie!! Boy I'm old! :lol Based on the scales I've seen there is no way this model could be 1/350 scale. That would make it huge (like 7 feet!)

Polar lights, once owned by Playing Mantis was purchased by RC2. RC2 then killed Polar lights. The guy who founded Polar Lights bought everything back from RC2 and started Round2 reintroducing Polar Lights and re-releasing all the kits and new ones. In a nut shell.

The Polar Lights re-fit Enterprise is 1/350 scale and is about 32-34 inches in lenght,so if the new movie Enterprise is made in 1/350...it wouldn't be 7ft. in lenght. That's roughly how big TMP Enterprise filming miniature was.Does anyone know what the scale of the future release of the new Enterprise is suppose to be?

Just verified with my friend - the rep told us that the New Movie Enterprise kit will be 11 inches, and is 2500th scale - in the film it's a massive 2,375 feet.

On one hand it's nice that it's an established scale, but on the other, i was hoping for something a little bigger.

So the new owner company name is Round2?

Edit:
Found it -- Round2 indeed owned by Tom Lowe (wow, full circle).

Yeah, I was hoping for something more like 18", but I'll get one of these 11" kits anyway.

It's tough to strike a balance between being large enough to look impressive and show detail but not so large of a model that you've got nowhere to display it. That's the problem I have with the three foot Enterprise refit model...not enough room for it even if I ever do get the damn thing built...

Interesting -- the R2/Polar Lights rep at Wonderfest that I talked to would not comment on scale -- but then a friend who was there told me that the rep told him there would be TWO scales, small and large., which I took to mean one that was 8 to 15 inches and one that was 2 to 3 feet.

Guess we'll see.

Wow. I never got the impression that the ship was that big from the film. Nero's ship must ridiculously large.

So really this puts this at about the size of the toy version.

Here's a better shot:

Complete with lens flares! :lol

I heard all kinds of talk at the Polar Lights/Round2 table. Under the "very possibly" topic is a 1/1000 Enterprise D... and of course, the 1/350 TOS Enterprise is a "go" now, but it's so expensive for the startup they are spreading it out over two budget years. It looks like it will be like the 1/1000 scale E, with options for Pilot 1 and Pilot 2 versions. They seemed very excited about it, and god knows I am, as this has been a dream kit of mine for years. Also, there is a lot of fan support for a 1/350 D7 or K't'inga Klingon battlecruiser. I suggested a 1/350 K-7 space station. :)

Time to add on that extra display room to the house...

Squeeze in a 1:350 Reliant into that mix and I'll be a happy camper. :)
