I just tried using the "Download all Personal Messages as: XML" function and the resulting XML file doesn't seem to have the proper style info included to allow proper display of the data.

Has anyone successfully used this downloaded data?

Thanks

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? The information is exported without style data of any kind; if you're looking to apply styles to it, you'll have to do it manually or use XSLT or something similar.

I am trying to be able to read the PMs that I have downloaded. :lol

Before we switched over to this version of forum software, you could download a fully formated html file that would present your PMs in a browser window that looked like the original.

So I thought that the xml download would do something similar, but in Firefox for example, I just end up seeing all of the raw code and text formating (Firefox also display the message: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.")

Now of course you can pick out the text of the messages, but when you have a lot of punctuation, special characters and a good number of quotes from previous PMs it becomes pretty much unreadable.

I am sure that is data is meant for some program that will format it correctly, my question is, what program?

Thanks for the reply. :)

Fantastic! That is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks!
