if you need any further details, just let me know...
thanks. ;)

I'm not a Stormtrooper expert, as my primary area of focus is Vader, but the photo of the left side reminded me of a TE due to a design flaw. Don't get me wrong. What you have is a stunning helmet. The back of the head there's a horizontal bevel, but when that line comes around front, it's higher than the black strip on the front. It should be in-line with the strip or the bottom outline of the strip.

The top 6 of that compilation are various original ANH/ESB stormtrooper prop helmets. The TE make is on the bottom. Yours resembles the photos in the bottom right and bottom center photo.

Finally, another confirmation is that particular bevel has a slight loss of detail, as reinforced by this photo of a TE, courtesy of Butcherbird on mepd.net

However, yours appears to be a one piece construction and not a multi-part. What is it made of -- resin? As I look through the eyes, I see an interior that reminds me of resin.

Based on this, my intiial guess is that this is a TE recast. I invite the trooper experts to chime in here.

Here are two pictures of the TE helmets I own.

On the left: TE Styrene
On the right: TE Fiberglass

This most likely came from a guy named Mario in Arizona. Definitely a recast of the TE Styrene Helmet.

Definitely a recast of the TE Fiberglass Helmet.

I'm no expert, but the brow's lower on RoCKo's compared to your TE FG one, unless TE did both a high and low brow FG version.

As I said, I'm no expert, far from it, sadly :( It was just an observation.

Cheers,

Kraig

If you notice, I did correct my post. :)

It's a recast of a Styrene Helmet, not an FG.

And yes, the brow is lower on the recast, similar to the Styrene helmets.

The fiberglass would only come in one brow height anyway due to the nature of the source.

Yes it`s definetly a recast of a TE later model styrene helmet.

I agree its a recast TE Styrene, notice the left hand side trap above the ear piece (wearing it) has the curve at the bottom, which is also quite exagerated on the Meatsock helmets that are recast from the TE.

Looks like a recast of TE's.
Have to say though - it's a good looking trooper whatever it is.

Incidentally, the middle lower helmet in the comparison from MEPD.net is mine...

thanks for your answers.

a TE recast was my first suggestion too. a very good recast indeed, very sharp details.
i don´t know where it came from because i bought it second hand from another MEPD member and he
didn´t remember where he bought it back then.

whatever, i definatly think it was a great deal. :lol

here are two shots for the inside view...

Recast or not...that's a nice looking helmet.
It's amazing how many sellers can't seem to recall where they purchased a helmet.
They must buy hundreds of them. :lol

It's people with the attitude of "who cares if it's recast, I want it" that will always keep the best items from ever being made available.

I say its best not to support them.

you´re absolutly right.
i´m definatly against any type of recasting but i´m still a collector and when a great looking helmet
is up for sale for a great price i can´t resist. :$
you know how much i love your work and i´m a proud owner of one of your helmets too.
a collection will always have it´s highlights but you need more than just one to call it a collection... :lol

Yyyyyyyyyyeah. :unsure

Or make sure to out them ALL.

Nice pics Rocko.

I was the previouse owner.. All I can recall is it came from ebay about 1.5 - 2 ys ago (USA). I actually thought it was a TE when I bought it, the pics were small and no mention of it being FG in the listing.. found that out when I pulled it out of the box it came in. This was the only one the seller had, so I guess he wasn't the original source either.

It was indeed a nice sharp helmet. Just needs a little clean up around the ears.

Yeah. What a great deal that ripoff helmet is. Let's all have a drink and celebrate. :rolleyes
Recasting is the cardinal sin on this board, not something to be encouraged or praised.
