Playing with my MR Kermit

Here are a few pics I took after playing with my MR Kermit.
He looks pretty good with a little TLC.
I played around with the face by scrunching the foam up and making the mouth more curved in the back to get him to smile a bit more until I got a more Kermit like face that I liked.

Mine is # 480... It is quite obvious that they just had a bunch of loose packets in a bin with the # plauqes inside and just threw them into the first batch of 100 shipped.

This guy is just too cool.....
Thanks MR..

Looks like Kermit is settling in nicely at his new home Lynn.

Number 270 here.

:lol Even more so.... A little more tweeking by trying to turn his eyes inward, mess with the face some more, and he is now in my movie prop museum.

Now I just gotta get a Muppets poster to go with him.
I may just display him right on the box, the box is pretty darn cool..

He looks good, but I don't think he's an exact replica. Not sure if that was their intention or to just be somewhat close. I liked the prototype pics more than the actual piece. It makes me kinda glad I didn't get one. But don't get me wrong, he does look good, I'm just picky.

Lynn, I am so glad to see you've moved that collar up where it belongs and rotated the eyes.........it looks absolutely perfect to me now... I cannot wait until the months end...........man that is sweet...

Based on what?
The folk over at Muppet Central are blown away by him, it seems some have handled some of the actual poser puppets too, they seem to think he is as close as we are going to get without hand crafting one to the tune of whatever cost.

Great review here:

And I'm not trying to flame. Just curious as to if you have any experience with the real poser puppets or if it's just an opinion.

Wow Lynn...I thought it looked great out of the box, but it seems as though with just a little effort you can really bring the guy to life.

I may have to break down and spend some cash soon. :lol

looks great, i have a video of the henson exhibition that was over here in England years ago, they had the poser puppets there and this is pretty close, really nice prop for the money.

Lets see if this changes your mind, http://www.toughpigs.com/journalposeur.htm

There have been different posers over the years and IMO MR's looks better then the really bad new version of the real poser that is used now. The flathead Kermit does look pretty bad.

A few people on the MCF that have seen the real 70's Kermit puppet that Jim Henson used that was displayed at the Smithsonian said it looks off even thought that was the REAL Kermit. I looked different because it didn't have Jims hand inside to make it look like Kermit. That is the only way to get the true Kermit look is to have Jim's hand inside as he is what gave it life.

Anyone got a cast of Jim's hand?? :lol

Peole got to remember when making comments on this Kermit is that is based off the POSER puppets, NOT the working puppets as seen on the show... There is a big differnce on how Kermit looks with the stlye of puppets, people need to remember this or get educated on it. It has taken me a while to learn on this and I can apperciate this Kermit sooo much more.

That the Antron Fleece doing that glittery thing with the flash. If you look at the pics in Wampas thread of his Kermit it is not like that without the flash.

The Kermits puppet fleece was very pilly and very used, I don't know if he posers were pilly or not, they don't look like it.

You can't do anything with the collar as far as movement, I just repositioned the head to loose some of the neck and straightend the collar out so it looked stiff.

Lynn, I can't believe no one has commented on your thread title yet, I've called it many things in my time but never "playing with my Mr. kirmit" :confused :lol
Childish, I know, but I work with what ya give me. :lol

Gotcha. So the collar is firmly glued or sewn onto the neck??? I assumed it was moved.........it seemed that other Poser owners left the neck too fat looking, which made the collar appear that it was too low......and.......as if he had a fly in his throat.....LOL

I've seen plenty of real muppets and I can tell you that they are also made of the same style fleece. Antron is a very shiny fabric. I will say this much, Antron has evolved over the years. Today's Antron is just slightly shinier than it's predecessor. But if you were to hold the two together side by side............most people would not see any difference. If you flash a camera on the two.............both will sparkle like mad.

Regular lighting doesn't seem to do this to the fabric. If you want to see the real essence of Kermit, take him outdoors and snap some shots without a flash............on a nice slightly overcast day.

This is as close as you will get to what you will actually see in person. The color and texture will be pretty identical.

Peace,

Dave :)

Well, I've compared the "good" Kermit with the MR Kermit and it still looks off to me. MR's Kermit's head is too pointed and not rounded enough, making the eyes not sit right and the mouth corners stick out too much and his collar doesn't have enough "lip" and the points aren't right either. These are just my observations and like I said earlier, I'm extremely picky when it comes to "replicas". I found the small toys to have the proper look and am sad that I passed them up.
