Thanks for the kind words, guys. As well as for the coins, but espacially those concerning my son. We got good news today: the tumor is a benign tumor. It's not 100% sure yet, but probably there won't be any after treatment and the docters think there is a good chance that what's left from the tumor, won't grow again. We have to follow up on that with regular scans of his spine. If the tumor should start growing again in the future, my son will be older, and there will be more options for treatment. Since he is so young, radiation therapy is not possible now, but will be when he's older. Most important is that the tumor is not life-threatening and won't spread.
So next week, I'll be able to start arranging getting these coins to my jeweler.

OK, my son is back home. Time to take up the "normal life" again. Contacted my jeweler to see when these can be plated. Didn't get a response yet. This final run will be very limited, as I said. 10 - 15 coins at the max (I guess about 20 / 30 of these are out there at this moment, so not more than 50 will be available in total, so a pretty rare piece).
Some extra info about the goldplating process: I contacted several platers / jewelers and send them many coins to try to goldplate them, but since there is some kind of patina on the original coins, that's almost impossibe to remove, most platers / jewelers told me they could not plate the coins, due to the patina on them (most of them also destroyed coins trying to remove the patina. I guess a complete checkers set has been destroyed trying to find a method to plate them). The plating process couldn't get "grip" on the coins and it wouldn't work.
The jeweler that does the job for me, however, has some other techniques and eventually did manage to plate them (he also destroyed a coin or 5, finding a method do remove the patina on them). So even if you get your hands on these checker coins, having them gold-plated is a nightmare.
So anyway, the interest list is not full yet, so let me know if you want a spot reserved. I don't take payments until I have the coins actually ready to ship.

A bit of bad news... according to my jeweler, gold price went up, since my last run of these. Price would be more in the €60 price range than in the $60 price range. I don't really understand, since according to the gold courses I found online, gold price actually went down since 2012... I'm waiting for an explanation of the guy. Too bad he is the only one I know who has the know-how to plate these coins :-(.

Yes, he compared the price now with the price of my previous run, which was in 2012. So back then price was $52, now it is $43. So compared to that, price didn't go up compared to 2012. Still waiting for an answer. In the meanwhile, I'm gathering all information that jeweler shared with me about how he would plate the coins, and I go with that info to other jewelers to see if they could plate them in a similar way, based on that info. We'll see how that turns out...
Want to go through with this little project, but unfortunately, couldn't get a better price than €60 for a coin. Just want to know who is still in at this price. Normally I don't ask for deposits or payments before production, but since some people show interest but don't come through at the end, I'll be askinf for a 50% non-refundable deposit for all people who are interested... So please respond here in this thread when you still want a coin...

MR chain is indeed the best one to go with this coin, but when you have my coin in hand, you'll see how much details the MR version is lacking...Still very much interested!
I still have to check with my goldplater what a realistic timeframe will be for the plating. I won't ask for deposit before I know when these will be ready to ship (or an estimate at least).

This is not out of my mind, don't worry. But since interest is not high, it seems, I'm planning on just finishing a few of these when I have the funds for it, and offer them to the people that expressed interest here, and sell the other ones individually in the junkyard... But this will be something for next year I'm afraid. I won't send too many to the goldplater, so if you really want one, please express your interest in this thread. The ones sold in the yunkjard will be slightly more expensive than the ones offered to interested people here and there won't be many...
