For sure! I wondered what happened to the two of them. I even asked my gf if I had missed something or did they just disappear and that was the end of them.....I suppose we're left to guess on our own as to what happened next

The pace is another thing entirely. The internal movement of scenes, the transition of one to the next, and the directorial priority felt off to me. Character beats I felt should be important were glazed over while certain action sequences surrounding it lingered obtrusively.

I think all the raw story elements were present, just not in the most effective presentation.

I saw the movie today, and I have to agree with nickytea's comments here. I really enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but I felt the pacing was off in a few places; I think they could have trimmed a good 15-30 minutes and otherwise fine-tuned the editing and made it a much tighter film. Apart from that, no real complaints.

When I read the screenplay ... that was it. They fade shimmering into the distance. Like the end of the original Little Mermaid story, in a way. The way Marshall played it, it happened so fast, you can't help but wonder what happens next.
We will see. Summer 2013.

I saw the movie last night. Really enjoyed it.
Think Depp does his best Sparrow to date in this one (IMHO he over did it sometimes in the previous movies).
I'm a big Geoffrey Rush fan, and happy he absolutely rocks (again) in this movie. So the scenes with Depp, Rush, and the two of them together still make this whole thing a blast experience for me.
The whole approach of the movie seems a bit less epic, which is a good thing I think, but still they wanted to put in a lot, so not everything was getting enough attention.
The whole Philip and Syrena thing to me was like: "Why are the two extra's getting so much screen time? Oh, they're in love? I DON'T CARE!". (They were cardboard figures to me...)
Blackbeard's a cool character, but the way Bruckheimer sold it:"One of the most evil characters we have EVER given you...!" didn't really do it for me.
(Davy Jones would kick his bud without dropping a sweat, or Barbossa for that matter...)
The whole 3D thing still sucks for me. It doesn't add a single thing to the movie. Instead it takes away colour and brightness.
I watched most scenes without the glasses and only put them on when things were a bit blurry, which only happened a few times.
Anyway, there's enough to talk negative about, even when you enjoyed the movie (LOL). This is a very well made piece of entertainment, and that's what it's supposed to be, so...
Depp and Rush are Rockstars, and Captain Jack is still a blast. A messed up wig and a patterned waistcoat is all to be forgiven

For me too....I never understood how he would know her name...Maybe i missed a scene where she told him?

Maybe he just made it up? I saw it for a second time last night with the wife. Caught a bunch of things I missed the first time so a lot made more sense. I always have to see these Pirates movies 2 or 3 times to get all the plot lines. The wife loved it too. Can't wait for the next one.

Saw it in Imax 3-D last night & loved it. Thumbs up for the magnificent art direction! Those pirate SHIPS!! *drool* I agree with Dutchman's comments for the most part. I thought the actors all did a great job but thought either the Blackbeard dialog was off or McShane's direction was bad, becuase I envisioned the character as a LOT more crazier than played.. ( more like Laffo! *L*) I wants the Blackbeard costume though! :cool
Thought Depp's Sparrow performane was the best so far & Rush always chews the scenery up! Was pleasantly surprised at the couple of quickie cameo performances and thought Penelope Cruz was very good in her role.
I was AMAZED by the mermaids! I am a HUGE mermaid fan and I thought these were flawless!
I'll go see another one if it happens.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. As good as the CG was in the others - especially 2 & 3 - they tended to overwhelm the movie. This one was a LOT more subtle about it. I don't rank it as high as Curse of the Black Pearl, but certainly above 2 & 3.

I was *especially* surprised at how sympathetically they portrayed Philip.

And the way they ended their scenes left me wanting to know more. I wonder if they will save that for the next one or if that was it?

Saw it last night. I liked it but didn't LOVE it. I asked my wife the same thing and then crowned him the new MERKING!

I would have laffed my butt off if he would have called her "Ariel" LOL

Wasn't "Piraty" enough...

Liked the more streamlined plot, but the story could have been a Mummy, or Indy, or (fill in the blank) plot.

Not much seafaring, really, when you think about it, and NO ship battles...

I'd say this was kind of a disappointment, for me. Not as good as 3, which I thought was as good as 1. I didn't like 2 much at all, and I think this one is a little better. Decent movie, but not very piratey.

I saw it yesterday, It is a great movie a lot of fun, action and beauty, i was very happy because the last part was filmed in Puerto Rico.

The island he maroons her on?

Dame Judy Dench cameo was funny!

Aye her name is Syrena which is for "sirene" of course.

Phillip pauses before he names Syrena shortly after Blackbeard says, "Pretell....do tell!"

Absolutely loved the Queen Anne's Revenge, and was only truly satisfied with Barbosa at the end when he got his old hat back.

Would love to see a sequel with Barbosa helming the QAR, Jack with the Pearl back, bring back Pintel and Rigetti, and FILM THE DAMN THING IN THE CARIBBEAN!!

This one did not LOOK nor FEEL like the Caribbean (for good reason). One third of the film in England, one third in Hawaii (and there is a big difference between the Hawaiian islands and the Caribbean islands).

Cruz did not disappointment me (though I expected she would). Hawaii DID disappoint me, as I expected it would.

All I can say is its the 4th best POTC movie. Not sure what can be done to sink the next but its almost safe to say after the 5th POTC, 4 will then be the 5th best.
