I think the biggest difference is the DJ having the ring mount system, while the SL has the original 3 tabs casted. The DJ may have some (if any) features softened because it was painted once while the SL may have some features modified by Thomas (SL,) as it has been brought to the light not so long ago, to be able to locate recasts.

That's pretty spot on. I have a SL and love it. I would love a DJ too. It's apples and oranges really. Only difference is how you say DJ cast was painted and may Soften some nicks and dings.this is correct Although I can't see too much.

I'm not a Vader expert by any stretch but one minor correction: The SL does *not* have the tabs cast in it; it was pulled from the Rick Baker mold in the US before the 3M tabs were attached. The TM is the helmet that has the tabs cast into it. That mold was made in the UK after filming was complete.
