Just to fix up a few things,
The Marty jackets were made in 1984, not 85. The 3 band Marty jacket owned by Lyon Estates has the "GUESS" liner, not motorbike.

The 3-band with the "GUESS" liner owned by NickFox does not have dented buttons, but Guess logo buttons.

There is also a version of the 84 blue denim/leather jacket with a Motorbike liner, dent-buttons and 3-band waistband

You might also want to add this colourway, it was posted on RPF around 10 years ago.

One thing to remember is that Guess was operating sweatshops in the US during their heyday. Some variations like 2-3 band could be down to quality control more than any purposeful variation.

Love this project though.

I personally think it was a purposeful variation. As when they made them with 3 section waistbands, they made the top chest pieces shorter but the jacket was still the same length for that given size. A 3 section waistband is taller.

Also entirely possible.

The only thing we know about this jacket is that we don’t know much lol.

Very true lol. And I think at some point I heard someone say that Guess is pretty tight lipped about all of it and won't give out any information.

It’s even funnier than that: they just don’t have archives and have never had an archivist. So they don’t know much about this jacket.

They know they made it they just don’t have anything else to add since the business was so loosey goosey back then lol

They could probably still make the fabric. That kind of info would most definitely still be with them. The patterns on the other hand would have to be made either by them doing their best with reference photos or someone with a jacket helps them out.

Speaking of which, how many people are confirmed to own a correct colored jacket? I know Sinister80s already made a post but didn't it only talk about the Lyon Estates jacket?
