Painting to get a rusted look/texture for Pyramid Head

I didn't really get responses to my old thread about this, and I figured it was probably because the title didn't really explain what I needed. Well, here you go. I need to know how to paint Foamies to get a texture like rusted metal.

In case you need to know what I'm doing to get a good idea, I am doing a movie version of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. Any screenshots you may have would be helpful, too.

I did a project recently using a "rust kit" by a company called Delta.
It's acrylic based, so it should work on foam. It contains a dark iron base, and a couple of rust shades. It also came with a small sponge and a couple of little mixing bottles with a spray cap.
The line is called "Delta Decorative Effects" and you should be able to find it at Michael's or Hobby Lobby or someplace that carries craft supplies.

W00t! Thanks! That sounds perfect, actually. Problem is, how large is this kit? Is it large enough that it will cover an entire helmet?

Um. . . not sure. I'm not familiar with the helmet you're making. I mean, I know what it looks like generally, but not sure how big it's gonna be.
You may need a couple of the kits, but they aren't that expensive.

Am I a fan of the games? LOL, that's what made me want to see the movie in the first place. Absolutely love them to death. And thanks for all the info. Keep it comin, I will take as many tips as you can give! :)
