Painting the Round 2 Deep Space Nine.

So yesterday I purchased the Round 2 DS9 station set (that comes with the Defiant and the Keldon). I'm a huge fan of All scale Trek, so of course I watched the DS9 build video.
My question to you who've built this model, what colors have you used?
The old AMT directions say Flat Gull Gray on the main hull (convient since I bought a can of it on clearance about a week before i found the model), but for details (the spots on the docking ring and doing fins specifically), it calls out for a weird combination of Dark Gull Green on the docking fins, flat red on the defense sails, flat yellow on the ribs around the center core, and sand with a black wash for the docking ring. The gull green really threw me since I've always thought the indents on the docking fins were red. Lol.

The color of a fictional sci-fi vehicle is often a moving target, so I always begin with the question: Am I going for an on-screen appearance or am I trying to match the studio miniature? On screen appearances can change from shot to shot depending on lighting and other factors -- even the settings of TV or monitor. The classic Enterprise, for example, was blue in some shots, green in others, or sometimes gray. The exact studio color was only determined through much scholarly research.

My rule of thumb is to start every build by deciding specifically what I want the model to represent. If its the studio model, I'll research the hell out of it and try to get as close as possible without driving myself too crazy. Going for the on screen look allows for more creative interpretation and, frankly, less stress. Make it look 'right' to you.

That seems to reinforce the general consensus in terms of colors. Which is funny because Iooked up the Eaglemoss DS9 on Google and its been shown as the faded red on the main pylons, as well as being a faded yellow gold in the same areas lol.

Seems like the "dark gull green" is erroneous. FS36231 is dark gull grey.
