Paintin' some skin on these old bones

(This might actually go in materials, but it doesn't fall under safety, so, maybe not.)

A'ight people. Got to take a look down at Wal-Mart today, got some armor paint in black and hammered silver. Didn't get the chance to paint up the armor, but on Sunday I will probably have it done. Unfortunately for me, I now lack a scanner. How typical. But, not the point here.

We were about to get some black, brown, and tan paint for meh skin (OMG, I actually managed to get a muscle suit that fits!) and we were just about to walk away, when something happened to be sitting there. Latex paint. Now, this was a tough choice. I know that [almost] everyone uses latex on their muscle suits, because it seals the paint. Keeps it from breaking when you move, apparently. So, I saw this, and we started debating on it. We decided against getting the normal and the latex until tomorrow, at least. So, I pose a question: Would anyone here recommend getting latex paint, (Krylon H20 Latex Paint is the brand.), or is this just crap that won't work?

Thanks in advance, hopefully I get a reply soon so I can show results...

Latex paint of the kind you see in the hardware aisle is best used on houses. The flexibility factor is nearly non-existent and would tend to crack and peel on a skin suit. Armor, on the other hand, might be do-able in moderation. But I doubt you'll find gun-metal gray or silver in a gallon can. :D

Latex paint is different than the liquid latex used to make skins, armor, masks, etc... Latex your muscle suit with liquid latex, also known as slip cast or slush cast latex (not latex paint), paint it, preferrably with an adhesive based paint, then seal it. Perma-wet or the new concoction that TMI came up with is what is used to seal. You can use the regular acrylic spray from any hardware store for most armor since it generally doesn't have to be flexible, but I think you're misunderstanding the type of latex used. Latex paint, as DD said, will crack like a mother.

Alright, that's all the information I needed to know. I knew the paint wasn't the same as liquid latex (been going up the wall trying to explain to someone what liquid latex was and that it isn't easy to get) but hey, worth a shot at asking. So, thanks again. Really needed that information.
