Painted SgtFang Hannibal Lecter Bust

Finally finished painting up my Lecter bust from SgtFang (originally sculpted by Russ Lukich). This is my first attempt at painting a human skin tone (what a pain to do! :lol), and I don't have an airbrush, so this took ages, and many, many washes and drybrushes of various different shades.

The eyes are glass - waited on them arriving for ages, but they just really bring the whole thing to life! And being seperate (held in with wads of blu-tac) means I can angle them slightly for different effects.

Not sure about the hair yet (it looks too grey in these photos, but it's a lot darker in real life). Can't quite decide to give it a coat of matt varnish to give it a slight sheen (Lecter's hair is usually slicked back) or to leave it as it is. Thoughts?

Forgive the photos, I took these tonight using the camera's flash, so the colours are a bit washed out. I'll take more pics outside (and more with the mask on) tomorrow hopefully.

Dude unbelievably awesome :lol! Seriously, that looks just like him!

The ONLY suggestion I could make would be to add eyelashes. Even if you didn't, I think it looks bomb!

-P.S. The stubble and skintone REALLY sell it!

Ditto about the eyelashes, but otherwise, I think it's the best paint-up of one of these Lecter busts I've ever seen. :thumbsup :thumbsup

Eyelashes and, yes, a little gloss on the hair.

Nice work, though. :cool Especially given that you had to do it the "old fashioned way".

Nice skin tones! If you do add lashes, trim them down a little. So many people add them and they look too feminine.

I'd feather a little additional hair along the hairline too. Otherwise he'll look like he's wearing a skullcap.

The shot with the mask is excellent!

I thought it was a pretty normal look on his face until I got to the picture with the mask. CREEEEEEEEEPY! Nice work.

Just don't put classic Tammy Faye Baker eyelashes on him now..:)

Holy cats, you did that all by hand??!! IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!:eek:thumbsup

And for some reason, that picture of him wearing the mask makes his eyes pop out more, like he's surprised or angry, amazing effect!

really good job for a first attempt

better than some of the so called "pros" on here:lol

Thanks for the kind words everyone. :)

Working on putting eyelashes on him at the moment. Couldn't find any decent, cheap fake ones in town, so I'm gluing on individual hairs from my eyebrows. :lol

And for some reason, that picture of him wearing the mask makes his eyes pop out more, like he's surprised or angry, amazing effect!

That's because in that photo I repositioned the eyes, so that they're looking down a bit more - by exposing the whites of the eyes above the iris a face will aways look angry or surprised. :)

Love the shot with the mask. Where'd you get it?

I got it from eBay - scrapped the straps that came with it and replaced them with new ones, filled 2 holes, filled and resculpted the nostrils, repositioned the mouth bars and repainted the whole thing. You can see before pics on the first page of this thread and finished pics on the last page:
