Please excuse me if this is not in the right forum however....I recently purchased one of Sean Bradleys excellent ODST helmets. I am an experienced model maker and painter so everything seemed pretty straight forwards. I started the paint up yesterday and everything went well.
Usually when weathering a large peice of equipment i paint a base white layer, followed by 1 or two coats of a silver/gunmetal color then a final color over the top. Them i usually use 600-1000 sand paper to bring out the edges.
I read sean's instructions and he talked about using toothpaste to create areas of wear which sounded great. My problem is i got waaay to excited with the concept and now my helmet looks like....well crap. I really want to strip away all the paint and start over i'm using rustoleum products and I'm wondering what is the best method of removing the paint. I tried sanding it away but the paint seems to just form a gummy paste when i do that and I am having a hard time getting down the original finish. Is there a stripper or thinner product you guys would recommend?
