Paint curing in oven

I was thinking of speeding up the drying time by putting a painted part in the oven at 100 degrees for 15 minuted or so.

Does anyone have experience with plastic and/or metal that has been painted and oven cured?

I know this is done with firearms all the time but was wondering if this could apply to my situation.

Thanks in advance

100 degrees would be way too much temperature...50° max
Or simply use a hairdryer or heat gun and give the painted item a few passes before putting it aside to let the paint harden.

I meant 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thanks!

Silly me, of course you did :lol

Anyway, putting plastic in an oven is something I wouldn´t do without a bad feeling about this ;)...

- Prep your model well
- Put your rattle can in some warm water before use or store it at a warm place.
- Shake it well
- Give the model a few light coats and some passes with a hair dryer or heat gun in between.
- Let it dry/ harden (in or outside an oven, your choice :lol)

100° F can warp many plastics and resins, especially in an oven where the elements are going to create hot spots when they kick on...

Markus has offered up some good advice, in all my years I have found that attempting to force dry paint isn't always a good thing and generally leads to problems unless you are just giving it a little nudge...

You might want to consider skipping the oven and simply using a cardboard box with say a 60 watt light bulb (bulb size dependent on box size) hanging over it just something to boost the temp a bit but not bake it...

Personally I would suggest you don exceed 85-90° F for any length of time...
