Our trip to Hoth ~ Snowtroopers playing in the snow

While many were sweating their butts off at Star Wars Weekends, a few of us from the Mountain Garrison (of the 501st) were playing in the snow on our own Hoth like terrain.

Garbz, myself, and my wife Kathy took the two hour drive from our house up to Trail Ridge Road as they just opened the road for the summer travel yesterday, May 23rd. At an elevation of 12,183 feet, it is very Hoth-like.

We are hoping to entice our fellow snowtroopers in our garrison to go back up there for a huge group photo. This is something I have been trying to organize since creating the armor in 2007. I'm hoping these photos will help ;) . The problem is, the snow will melt fast so there is little time to waste.

Kathy took 208 photos of Aaron and I playing in the snow and I weeded it down to the best 29 photos.

Here are a few of them:

Thanks guys :)

It was "Cool" up there.

Actually it was a blast. It was fun to just go play and have fun for us for a change. Although there were a lot of people up there who kept coming up to us. There was one time when I had to ask them to stop so we could take our own photos :p

Snowtroopers look really cool in their natural environment! Be careful or someone might think they're getting spy pics from the new movie!

That's awesome. Beautiful environment. Would be great to see a garrisons worth of snowtroopers up there. Best of luck getting that going.

Thanks.

I know. I hope we can get a big group shot up there. It's not looking great for this year but maybe this will help us plan for a trip on opening day next year. Right now I think we have about 16 snowtroopers in the garrison. At one point I believe we had around 20 or more.

There were two people up there who thought we were filming. Yeah we did a great job of hiding the camera crew, dollies, bounce cards, etc. :p ... silly people.

If you can, it's a blast for sure! I think one can only do so many events just standing for photos. Once in a while you gotta get out and play ;)
