we did out local xmas parade on the 26th if you have pics of your local parade , post them...

Great pics, I take it that it's you, your young'un as a Jawa and Chris?. All of you cut great SW characters, well done.

We haven't had a Christmas parade for the last 14 years here in Melbourne, until this year :D

These are pics from people's sites, we had nobody to take pics as our regular support crew (my wife and daughter) both troop.

Here you can see our family unit......

My wife is wearing my 2 week (which blew out to just over 3, actually I was going to do a progress thread on this, maybe I still should) Boushh , my Daughter as Jorina Varas (custom Mandalorian) and me (TIE pilot).

Here's a couple more...

Cheers,

Kraig

OK, so where's the Red Nosed Stormtrooper? : )

Wish we had Star Wars parades around where I live...

WE HAD A BALL. i know what you mean about high 5ing one kid. they all want to touch ya ... the pics look great from melborune....

Great looking photos.

Is it just me or does Christmas and Star Wars go together perfectly? Every Christmas afternoon since 1976 saw me on the floor, my imagination swirling while inventing or recreating Star Wars moments and adventures. At this year's parade I felt like I got to be the action figure for the minds of 100s of Star Wars fans. It was as wonderful as the first time I ever put on Stormtrooper armor and made my first appearance. There was a moment when we came around the corner and a cheer went up for us that the Throne Room anthem couldn't have made any better. I heard "Hey STAR WARS." over and over and I even braved fate to turn myself around while walking to look at Mike as Vader and see the kids getting high-fives from Stormtroopers. It was so awesome. So, so awesome.

It was great seeing a larger number of troopers this year and I know the fans had a fun time too. So great seeing old faces again as well as our new Biker Scouts and Royal Guard.

Cheralyn Lambeth, my dear friend, I'm so, so sorry for karate chopping you in the face (at least, I think it was your face). All I remember was facing forward, trying to keep from running into that banner pole, when I bravely (or stupidly) thought it would be a good Idea to look to my left, attempt to walk sideways and wave. The moment I did so I felt my spiked and armored hand smack into contact with something royal and rebellious. As I lowered my hand I saw Cheralyn's Princess Leia hair buns then her rosey cheek (AAAAAAAAAAAAAH - OH MY GOSH.) I felt so, so awful Cheralyn, I'm so sorry. Sadly, you're not the first. I've wacked more than a couple little kids with that droid hand. I'm a bad man.

The only downside (besides going all KungFu on Cheralyn) is that after marching about 3 blocks (to get to the starting point) I was already sore. I'm such a baby. Next year we'll do a platform of some kind. But, one day I'll be able to complain to my kids, "Oh yeah? Well one winter I was being chased by Stormtroopers and had to run up hill both ways, in the cold, after being clamped inside a golden torture chamber."

Merry Christmas guys. :)

THEY look wicked chris.... did you notice the jawa in the first few pics? your sister made that robe and hood.. this is rod up in newfoundland canada. man i loce the 3p0...

Nice pics Chris..... yeah the Jawa robe your sister made is awesome. On a side note, that C3PO suit looks like the most god-awful uncomfortable thing ever. Am I about right?

This thread is becoming very interesting. :)

Well done Chris (DK), she looks like a great little Leia.

WOW Chris (TK409) you did a parade in 3PO? Man, I couldn't even imagine how difficult that must've been. The things we do to entertain the kids (both big and small) eh? Well done. I admire your wrangler too. I tend to be the one who helps our Vader, Boba (the same Boba you trooped in Sydney with) and the troopers suit up before a troop, but putting together 3PO correctly would take a lot of attention to detail.

TK427, thanks it was good fun, but man was it HOT.

Cheers,

Kraig

Thanks. Your Jawa looks awesome Chris (DK). Can you send me photos of your eye setup? I like to share what different people do on their Jawas.

Yes the 3po is a bit uncomfortable for marching a long distance, especially on slopes. This is actually my second parade as 3po. The first was this year's DragonCOn. Imagine tiptoeing for a mile and a half. Walking short distances isn't bad at all. Standing around is cake. And yes, my wrangler and fellow garrison member (and R2Builder) Kris Sanders is the best. We've done a lot of events together where he suits me up - even the one with Anthony Daniels standing there. We've got it down to 20 minutes. There's no way I could have done this many events without his help - he's the man.

Chris, it's Rods' Jawa (TK-427), not mine. The Leia is my daughter. :D

I will get pics up after our 2 parades next weekend. We have about 75 people in costume planned with a trailer/float, hope it goes well.

We didn't do any Christmas parades here in New England but we did a Halloween one back in October. It was our 5th year in a row marching there. The crowds are amazing... they seem to love us.

This year was cool because we had a float with Vader and Luke dueling. They acted out the Bespin dueling scenes, rehearsing the saber moves and acting along with the soundtrack and sound effects (including dialogue) from the film. We also had TK7602's Han in Carbonite that he made from Paper mache... soooooo cool. I was the Boba leading it all down the street. :)

You know, you guy's that do these parades don't get enough praise. The looks on those kids face when they are shaking hands with their favorite character is priceless.

Thank you. That's what it's all about right there. That kid was stoked to see a life-sized clone. That was awesome.

Cool, I thought it might have been Darth Domain for a sec there. :)

Interesting that he managed to get into the 501st with a Rubies. It must be heavily modded, it certainly seems to have some mods according to the pics.
