Original 1977 ANH Stormtrooper Armor and Helmet

I fully agree with chris. You guys are really making it easy to have faith seeing how you take positive criticism well and are implementing it all into your piece.

Get that mouth corner sharp like the original and I will fully call this the hands down winner of the TK world!!!

:)

These pics are from the proto, if you look at the first ones from the same post it's the latest version which I can diference from the original except that it's finished.

You talking about the groove at the top of the rear tube? It's on the SFS helmet too, and that's a painted helmet, so it's an accurate feature.

If you are talking about something else, then I'm not sure what you are referring to.

No, I know about the groove on the originals, I'm talking the air channel that is prominent mostly on the right side and at the end on the left of the pic I attached. All it takes to smooth that down is to wear gloves and smooth it by hand while still on the mold. The reason I asked about this is because it doesn't appear on their original from what I can see. I'm just pointing out a couple of things that are easy to address to help these guys make the best helmet that it can be.

Hi Guys, OK, the line is an original feature BUT is accentuated on the test pull photographed. We are not overly concerned by this as the new back on cap, our working master has been completed. We will be pulling some over the weekend and will post up the resulting pulls. Needless to say the finished master is better than the test pulls, and will only add to the finished helmets. It captures more of the original features, but as the original we are lucky enough to have is a nice pull no original features you would not want are present.

Have a little faith, you guys will love the finished helmet from the masters created.

Looking forward to it. :thumbsup

This was an enlightening thread boy a nice couple of hours I spent!!! So Happy,
going to sell a couple of my old helmets that will look silly next to a "SIMAN"
lid!!!!!
All my best to all,
AL

I still like the whole RS PROPMASTERS Stormtrooper armor idea. I dunno it just sounds right.

WOOOOHOOOO!!! :thumbsup That was for FINALLY finishing reading this entire thread AND for the excitement that this helmet and armor has brought me!

I ordered one and can't wait to see more pics. I ESPECIALLY can't wait to see some pics of the armor which I almost assuredly will be getting. Both will be my first buckets and armor partly because I wanted something very accurate and also because I never thought I could afford to get them but, thankfully SiMan is offering these up at a reasonable cost. :thumbsup

I would really like to get a kit version that is khaki/green in color like the original. I know from reading on this site that HDPE is hard to pull and that paint won't adhere well to it etc., etc., however, someone mentioned that no one has ever been able to find HDPE in the color that AA claimed to have on hand and that it could have been polypropelene instead of HDPE that was used. Even if it wasn't polypropelene I would like to have a kit made with that (or a similar, color-matched material) so that the original, base color was matched IF HDPE cannot be acquired/used easily. JMHO

Please forgive me if I've missed it but the original story in the prop blog link doesn't seem to be there anymore, would love to find more of the background story about this armour, how it came to be in his possession etc....

Concocted in the way that they reported a bogus auction sale for several thousands. Basically lying. So yeah, wouldn't trust much of what was written on that page anyway. And it was taken down for that reason.
