Original 1977 ANH Stormtrooper Armor and Helmet

Siman. You HAVE to have a set of unaltered molds for stunts. THOSE are what people are going to want. They can get an idealised helmet ANYWHERE. What you have is a chance to replicate EXACTLY what was seen on screen.

If the set came with a REAL hero helmet from 77??? Oh my. People would beat down your door for an EXACT copy of the real deal made in ABS.

We are all about accuracy here!

It would be cool to make a SEPERATE mold and alter it to be a hero. But for the love of God make sure you have at least one exact mold of the helmet as is. Offer different types of plastic. And offer KITS (we like to build em more than buy em). THEN... you will be God-like here, and on several other forums.

Everyone else is poosy-footin around the point. But there it is! :lol

To Clarify the first run of helmets will be a warts and all STUNT helmet Hand painted and on a numbered stand. we toyed with the idea of doing a Hero helmet, coz we figured that's what there would be more demand for, How wrong we were, However if anyone would like a more idealised helmet with the bubble lenses we hope to be able to supply this as well.

We are in the process of casting the suit and these will follow shortly after the release of the First run of helmets.

Holy Schnikey! I think I just did something in my PAAANTS.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more!

Please please make sure you keep your moulds 100% untouched! don't be tempted to alter or sharpen anything, no matter how inconsequential it may seem. You have an original trooper helmet Simon, and as long as you have complete and good quality copies of it's inside surfaces, they need nothing done to them.

Also as OldKen says, kits would be very nice. There are so many individual troopers with their own unique assembly, that working from a kit would be the only way for someone to replicate a particular helmet.

.. And armour too??! Amazing!

Yes that is it in a nutshell. :thumbsup

I think they will see this is the general consensus here. Though a few WILL want finished helmets as well. I don't think that should be totally thrown out of the equation! ;)

Can't wait to see one finished up for comparison to some of the other top helmets out there. :)

I know I would love a kit or 2. Most of the fun of these things is in the building and painting process and knowing it's your own.I'd love to strap up a set of armor too with all the shortcomings of the originals.

I don't know if I am more excited for a true ANH suit, or that we won't be having anymore 'this is better than that' Stormtrooper threads. This looks to be the end all be all Stormtrooper suit which is amazing none the less!

I REALLY hope you offer kits. I like to trim, build and paint them myself.

Spending hours and hours trimming every part to macth the trimming of a specific trooper, thats ears, eyes, each individual tooth, cap and face. As well as building it so everything like ear placement, brow position, angle of the face in the cap and the angle of the mic tips matches a specific original trooper is what most people want to do.
Thats before any decision is made on how to go about painting the helmet and what paint will be used.

Keith.

I just read part of this thread and I think this is great.
On the re-paint part I would say no because this is like saying that we are gonna fix the great pyramid, it would take away the mystery and the magic out of it.

Now the ugly part. I can see now that someone seem to have taken Simon under his wing and I am inclined to say that this will turn into a ugly money game. I may be dead wrong but it looks like this.
A lot of people have been burned by Shepperton studios and it supposed to be original molds, it seems and I would hate to see that kind of thing happen. Not there is any doubts about what we have been presented with but with the business model that will follow.
I am sure that everyone reading this would probably not mind forking big for this but how much is too much..caution is to be explored here.
What I see happening is that a high price will be commended for a possible kit like shepperton is doing with his items and some people will buy this kit, turn around recast the suit and helmet and bootleg it to death and sell it cheaper because they know people would accept a little lesser quality but a better price...
I think it is totally ok to make a profit from this but if the owner is associated with some people in search of quick top bucks then this will become an epic fail.

Besides love it or hate it Gino has a face plate that has those details in the tears already . But then again Gino is asking an exorbitant price for a faceplate a cap and back and ears which borders on the ridiculous when he decides to let one out of his hat because he knows that his kit is more precise and close to a original helmet but he is trying to profiteer a lot for this and that is his decision and he has to leave with the consequences of those decisions.

See his helmet below…

My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET - First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment

but the details are there and you could say they are extremely close to what Simon has.

The suit is what is going to be the main focus and like I said I hope Simon will keep his head on straight about how he is going to go about this.

Time will tell

The Gino helmets, v3 included, all exclude details in one way or another. The v2 is missing the tube bump, and tear details. Now he is excluding the tear details in his v3. The one you see in his thread was his own copy.. the ones he sells all have this detail removed.

Yes the suit is something I too am looking forward to, and quite eagerly I might add. However to say that the helmet is not as important is not true IMO. This helmet promises a lot of potential, far more so than any of the casts that are currently out there. If its offered in a truely unaltered state, then it will the the one item to quench a thirst I've had since watching ANH all those years ago.

So far the story has always been, "close but no cigar" when it comes to trooper casts.. it had become so illusive I'd just about given up. Although I don't want to be too optimistic, in the event its NOT all we were expecting. But its hard not to be excited. I certainly pray this changes things!! :)

Those two sentences just gave me an uncontrolable urge to PM you my Bank details, credit card details and cashline card with PIN number :lol

This is brilliant news SiMan.

I would also prefer kits and would pay the same for a kit as a finished helmet for something as special as this.

Cheers Chris

Most exciting thing since sliced bread

They make it in slices now? :confused WHY did no one tell me??? :lol

Seriously though. I Keep checking this thread as if any minute there would be a massive update.

My keyboard IS covered in drool. :thumbsup

P.S. Seriously... offer helmet kits, PRETTY PLEASE!!! :angel

We should start a pool as to when and who recasts this first.

You know it's gonna happen.

You may well be right micdavis but we should try to not put a negative slant on something so positive that has come to the community :p

Anything with a mass appeal will get recast eventually so it may well happen. The appeal of this item is it comes direct from a screen used piece. Not second or third generation recast piece of junk.

The market for super accurate troopers is there and as long as the original source is available the serious collectors will buy direct from the original source.

There are loads of recast Stormtroopers out there already and to be honest the serious collectors don't even look at those guys.

Is it even worth recasting troopers nowadays? The market was totally flooded with troopers and apart from the accuracy nuts I would say the costuming community market was already satisfied.

Cheers Chris
