Opinions Please - Anovos First Order Stormtrooper Helmet Standard or Premier Line?

Opinions are most welcome. I am on the fence about purchasing the Anovos First Order Stormtrooper Helmet in the Standard liner (ABS) or Premier Liner (Fiberglass). I have seen prototype images of the premier helmet and honestly, I am not that impressed. The ABS helmet that is available now looks awesome. I am not trooping with the helmet, so it would just be for display. Is the ABS helmet more "screen accurate" (is that likely what they used for the production, as fiberglass helmets are pretty heavy?) Just wanted some opinions. Thanks.

From what I understand, the screen used helmets were AB Urethane. They were not injection molded, nor fiberglass.

That being said, the fiberglass and IM helmets look virtually identical. If it's just going to be sitting on a display stand, I'd go for the cheaper one.

I've got the Anovos First Order Stormtrooper Helmet in the Standard helmet. I like it, it is lite and looks so much better. Just waiting for some armor.

How do you quantify that it's 10x better? On the vid they looked identical to me.......

I agree. Having held both, I prefer my premiere bucket (aside from the crack that ANOVOS still hasn't replaced). It doesn't feel as cheaply made (because it wasn't, obviously), with a nice inner padded cloth lining, and it has a really nice weight and heft to it which makes it "feel" like a real helmet, and prevents the bobble-headed wobbling that thin plastic buckets usually have (even with the hard hat rig, which is junk imo). Also (and maybe this is just me) but mine doesn't have that annoying forehead ripple that so many of the Standard line seem to. I don't care if the screen buckets have it or not but I can't stand staring at that ripple, ruins the Standard buckets for me.

I guess what I'm saying is... the Standard helmet feels and looks like a plastic reproduction, to me anyway, and not in a good way. My premiere actually looks and feels like a real helmet, and that's worth the price of admission when I'm trooping. But I agree that if you are just planning to display it in your room or run around the house with it occasionally, then go for the cheaper option.

Now I am even more conflicted. The Premier sounds really awesome. Yes, it is true that I am only going to display it. I just don't know. I do want it now, and who knows when the premier will be released. You guys are great, but make great arguments on both sides. decisions, decisions...

Yeah the standard line helmet does feel cheap but thankfully mine did not have the gap problem and I can't see the folds in the forehead either. But if I were trooping in it I would be worried to drop it because I am sure it will crack. Now after seeing and reading reviews on the OT stormtrooper bucket I am a little nervous... After hearing about gaps and funny shaped helmets. And yes I understand that's how some of the screen version are/may have been, but I think most people just wanted it to look screen accurate not be screen accurate as far as gaps and things that make it seem poorly made.

Trust me I was nervous about the standard one, but after seeing the premier one I was sold quick. It has no defects no gaps , it's just how they said only for 501st members and I don't regret spending a lot . It's top notch quality.

I only trust people i know. Esspecially what they consider regarding quality - peoples definition is usually way to widespread, depending on maker, price, material ........

Very true. It's entirely possible than lucky folks like Xavier and I are suffering from confirmation bias-- obviously we are likely going to prefer our expensive, special helmets because, well, we already paid for them and they are supposed to be better! For me, the extra money is worth it for the extra quality, but as you said, everyone values quality differently.

To sdhlaw1701, I would say, contact your local 501st garrison and see if you could arrange to see someone's Standard and/or Premiere helmets (maybe at the next gathering they hold). Once you hold/wear them for yourself, you can reach a decision between the two a lot easier, imo.

Additional it comes down to what you want to do.

For a pure shelf-sitter all that counts is the look - there i don´t see the worth of the more expensive.

When used for trooping it´s another thing, how real/good does it feel? Here the more heavier premium might have a advantage. Unless you want to modify it with fans, hearing and talking devices, the needed battery packs ..... then a light helmet would be great. The same for all those who like their helmet as light as possible.

Different need, different helmet versions.

Well the injection molded one has had small tweaks to make it more accurate.
