Yesterday a conversion with my girlfriend lead us to trying to name as many prop books as possible, props I would love to have on my bookshelf : ) We came up with:

The Grail Diary
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
The Book of the Dead
The Pirate Code
There and Back Again
Edmund - A Butler’s Tale
My Incredible Career
The Book of Armaments

Over to you…

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

Ah yes thats a good one. Sports Grays Almanac aswell.

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

The pirate codex is nice...

I would like to have a real fake introduction manual for a proton pack, I start this project long time ago, but my english is not as good as I can make it alone...

What else, lets see...

Handbbok from r.d. from beetlejuice
red book of westmarch from LOTR
presidents book from national treasure 2
Necronomicon
Peter Pan from Hook

Not really a movie prop but I like always the old book in the intro-movie from the mortal kombat mythologies game...

There are some magazines/newspaper, too...

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

Probably taking this too literally, but I'd have "The Prop Builder's Molding and Casting Handbook" (which I do) and "The Prop Builder's Mask Making Handbook" (which I don't, but want) by Thurston James.

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

On my bookshelf now I have:

Voyager's Guide Book

and several Warhammer Game "prop" instruction manuals/history books for soldiers etc:

The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer
Imperial Munitorum Manual
The Witch Hunter's Handbook
The Life of Sigmar

Others I would like:

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Necronomicon

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

The Book of Pythia

A non-custom prop book would be Catcher in the Rye, it seems to pop up in many films.

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

I don't know if I should list just what I would like or list nonexistant prop books that show up on film. What the heck, I'll just list a few that no one has listed yet.

The Never Ending Story

All the Sutter books from the Carpenter film

100 Women I'd Like to Pork (think that was the title) from Throw Mama From the Train ("a coffee table book")

Kramer's coffee table book about coffee tables in Seinfeld

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

Ok, I'll play right this time. I want...

The sinister "De Vermis Mysteriis" of Ludvig Prinn, Comte d'Erlette's terrible "Cultes des Goules", Von Junzt's damnable "Unaussprechlichen Kulten", and certain fragmentary pieces: the frightful "Book of Eibon", the horror-fraught Pnakotic Manuscripts, and the dread "R'lyeh Text."

Re: On my prop bookshelf I would have… ?

The "Action Comics" in the opening title sequence from Superman: The Movie.

"A Tale of Two Cities" if you could find one bound like the copy Spock gives Kirk in Wrath of Khan.

I note the Lovecraft (and Bloch) references, but what movie / movies are these from?

"De(s) Vermis Mysteriis" is quoted in "Hellboy".

Appearances by "Cultes des Goules", the Pnakotic Manuscripts, and "Unaussprechlichen Kulten" in "The Keep" were cut.

The Monster Book of Monsters.

River Song's Doctor Diary (Doctor Who)
The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows (The Ninth Gate)
