Don’t know if anyone else finds this interesting, but I recently stumbled across this Vimeo flip-through from a YourProps user of their screen-used The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008) Field Guide prop. As far as I know, there’s never been a clean, clear source for all the screen-used pages.

This film (and the books they were based on) began my obsession with books-from-movies collecting that continues to this day. May try my hand at screenshotting and cleaning up the pages to make a replica or perhaps commission one, though I’m not entirely confident in my photoshop skills lol.

It’s a holy grail prop for me. If anyone ever did a run of this book, they’d have my money ASAP. Anyways, hope somebody finds this interesting! Cheers!

Interesting. Did they ever complete it? I’ve searched all over the place and maybe found one person with a project that was never finished.
I guess you were talking about me. I've been trying to recreate this prop ever since I was a kid, since discovering this a few days ago, I'll get back to working on it soon.

It's crazy how I finally managed to see nearly all the hidden pages. The one person who had the hero prop wouldn't even share the pages but I'm glad this guy did. I feel not all the pages were present in the book because I saw on Disk 2 of the movie that there was a page for the Land Troll (The first Troll page is the river troll) and another page for Thimbletack. I know that the pages where repeats to layer up the book, but theres some that I feel like are missing.

Yeah I’d have to agree. I’m not super familiar with the page layout, but it definitely seemed a little light.

Man, the amount of notebooks 12-year-old me filled with attempts at making a completely inaccurate version of the Field Guide…

I managed to get the page order from the one guy who got the hero prop and this is what it was:

Trolls (River Troll)
Seeing Stone
Goblins
Goblins (Red Cap and Bull Goblins)
Protection against faeries
Charm for protective circle
Elves
Elven Glade
Treatment for Boggarts Bite
The common house Brownies
Phooka
Stray sod
Nixies
Sprites
Hobgoblin
Ogre
Faeries Berries and Fruits

Hey man, ever get any further with your own replica? Woke up this morning after literally dreaming of a replica of this book lol

Hello everyone, just discovered this forum and was wondering did anyone take a screenshot of the field guide pages of the Sylph and the flower sprites? Sadly the vimeo video does no longer work from the flip-through of the guide so I can't see it anymore. Those creatures were always my favorite ones and I'd love to see them properly and all the text. I'd be so grateful if anyone could provide the photos!

The Vimeo seems to still be working. I had to login to view it.

That’s great. I rewatched Spiderwick Chronicles not too long ago. Still a fun movie. A shame they didn’t make any more.

I’ve been wanting to find myself a “Seeing Stone” out in the wild. Will scout the beach in Whitby, England when I am visiting next.
