Ok, LOTR weapon question ?

Gone but not forgotten.
Ok, I know we shall { sadly } never see the Mace
of Sauron from United Cutlery for obvious reasons... :cry

But, does anyone have any info on the wepaon? I mean,
some GOOD images ?? The higher res the better ! I have
the DVD collections and while they VERY briefly show it
they really don't have " that " good of referances available.

Any help guys ??? :confused

Edit: I'm a doofus. For some reason I was thinking of the Witch-king's weapon. Sauron's mace is pictured in the "Weapons and Warfare" book (though small enough that my scanner couldn't do it much justice.) And check the 4-disc version of FOTR for the Weta Workshop documentary - there may be pictures there.

Thank, and THANKS again..:lol

I did look over the DVD's and there's one section
where they tour the workshop and all layed out are
ALL the weapons on a table.. BEAUTIFUL sight that... :love

Problem is, they pass RIGHT over Sauron's Mace and no close ups.
Man I felt cheated.. And I have gotten the Mini-Mace already.
NICE little reference there, but I was still curious if anyone had
any info on the full scale prop ?

I thought it was sooooo weird that UC was " supposed " to
do a Mace and could have SWORN someone posted that a
proto was made but that was it. I figured they must have
had all kinds of info and I was just hoping someone might
have a source ?

Thanks guys... :thumbsup

Found this, any good?

Ive just seen the link to this above sorry, I went to the LOTR exhibition in London and I swear it was there with the actual Sauron suit which stood about 7-7.5 foot, I bet someone around here has good pics of it, good luck!!

According to something I read on another forums, they could never quite get it to produce in a cost efficient way as well as shipping friendly. Regretable loss indeed, the Sauron collection shall remain incomplete.

Maybe our own Blind Squirrel will be willing to chime in with some additional photos & details of how he made his awesome version of this prop (<-- scroll to the bottom of the page).

Does anyone know the scale of the small Weta Sideshop version or what the dimensions of the mace would need to be in order to be in scale to UC's helm of Sauron?

Thanks for the shout-out, Nexus. The mace itself really wasn't all that hard to build. I don't know about Sauron scale, I made mine to human scale (i.e. ME) since it was for HAlloween.

I've got some pictures somewhere from UC when we had the mace in the office, It was huge, so same scale as the helmet. I'll dig those up and post em.

I'm 5'11" and it was from about my upper chest to the floor. The size was the big reason we couldn't get anyone to make it. I don't know it kit saved anything from the art files but we had every piece of the head and handle drawn out to be tooled. No factory wanted to attempt it, and we did want to make it from steel not resin which was the problem too. We had the wall mount prototypes but that's as far as it went.

I've been working on one on and off now for
over a year so I would LOOOOOOOOOVE to
see some images !!!

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Anything you feel you can share,
PLEASE let us know !

:love

I have a disk full of prop picture we took at UC at home, I will dig it out this weekend and post everything I have. Kit may have kept this piece I am not sure.

I was gonna say - I remember seeing a pic on the UC forums of someone holding the prototype - it must be the pic jwhite is talking about... too bad it was never realized (although I doubt I could have ever afforded it).

Yeah there was a picture in the LOTR fan magazine of Mike the 3d cad guy holding it.

It wasn't gonna be cheap, they were also concerned about shipping the thing as well.

Made in steel, it sounds like it would have weighed a ton. Even Gimli's axes are extremely heavy. The Sauron and Whichking's helms are resin/fiberglass and they look pretty realistic. I almost have UC's entire line of LOTR replica's and was extremely satisfied with every single piece. I would have bought Sauron's Mace no matter what it was made of.

I was really looking forward to Theoden's Helm and Gimli's other two axes as well.
