Official Tie Pilot Hose Search

Re: Un-Official Tie Pilot Hose Search

I am thinking it is the automotive hose that Firespray found in the previous thread. Immediately after he found that the thread went cold and Gino deleted his posts:thumbsdown.

Re: Un-Official Tie Pilot Hose Search

Hey, FB, I am of the opinion that you should re-name the title of this thread from un official to OFFICIAL TIE PILOT HOSE SEARCH. :thumbsup

On the original thread I think the pond tubing could be spot on as AA would have had plenty of this lying around :confused

It would make sense, esp since it would be used for the same purpose if the TIE Pilot helm were functional.

Only niggle I have is the TIE hose is a little shinier, but that could be armor all or something similar, and the rings in the TIE hose seem to be slightly farther spaced.

Edit to add that the spacing issue could be the hose could be slightly stretched in the prop.

As mentioned in the "other" thread, the TIE hoses were spiraled, whereas most of those fighter helmet hoses were just non-connected rings inside a plastic/rubber shell.

Since the tie helmet hoses were spiral they would have an embedded wire in them. This makes me think a they might possibly be a vacuume hose of some sort or another. The wire keeps it from collapsing under vaccume.

I was pumping gas today and noticed that the hoses appear to be pretty close to those Tie hoses. The hoses at this gas staion were recently replaced and were a bit smaller in diameter than normal. I'm thinking that it might have been used in a heavy application.

Got any pics? Also... would be interesting if the gas station knew where they got the new hoses from!?

The hoses are definitely still in production... or at least something that will be nearly identical.

I bought a chestbox from MonCal and he included hoses. They were a bit stiff in my opinion, but I have no idea what they were.

Anyone know what he's using?

Rick

Wait, I'm confused on all this... Are you guys trying to ID a part that's already been found by a member of the RPF, but he doesn't want to tell you?

Could very well be. Looks close enough and like the other one I commented on, would serve much the same purpose.
