Not sure, can I discuss this?

Pretty sure I can speak for DefStarTrooper and say just a thanks and the hope that you get what you paid for is enough for us.

Yeah i seek no reward i just hope you get your money back and as i said on my forum hopefully by sharing you can prevent the same happening to someone else.
The publicity seemed to bring the worm out of his hole last time hopefully it will again and this time with a more positive outcome for you.

Thanks....I am going through 2 years worth of emails for anything helpful or damaging.
I'll post what I find on your respective sites.

I would also like to take a second and express my apologies to Gerry Mros, aka GM Props
and Bret Jones, aka Federation Surplus for all of the grief I gave them in defence of Dennis.

GMProps did warn me this might happen....I should have listened.

Why do people wait so long from sellers??? I cant believe buyers do this and wait for a year or years for their stuff before making a move.....:rolleyes You buy it, it should be available right away or within a reasonable time. Anything over a few months is ridiculous.

Well when you say it like that.... :wacko

To be honest, I thought he just needed more time to get me what I ordered.
He had been saying something about a chip supplier and looking for a replacement part. Couple that with the 2 years and thousands I had already
paid him that went without incident, I just didn't see a "snatch n' grab" coming my way. By now, it is clear he is not willing to face or resolve the issue.

I would not blame yourself... too much. As you say, you did get "some" stuff. But I tell people that once the shipments stop coming for say two weeks, I am on the horn every day, and I would not let anything go over a week if the seller quit talking to me. I am just sorry you waited this long and spent this much money. Did the mods give the go ahead to post his name here yet?

(If they have not ruled, and I suspect they will in your favor after the evidence I have seen, people can still go here...

...and see it.)

This can be a shady hobby sometimes. Since many of the items we as prop collectors obtain come from independent sources, unless you are getting an item from a well-documented reputable seller, it's really like rolling the dice.
I've been burned a few times over the years but fortnutately, not for large sums of money.
A price tag like that certainly warrents an appearence on Judge Judy!

I kick myself in the *** every time I think about it or when I go to call him and he doesn't pick up the phone. What gets me is---I never saw it coming.
Not yet...

Now that's a thought....

Just an FYI...I asked the MOD's to change my name back to what it was years ago
and what it is on other forums, for continuity across the board(s), pun intended.

What I don't understand, why he's trying to scam... if he's got problems, he can go over to propfixs to talk. He has also scammed Scott from xscape props for tricorder electronics he didn't deliver.

USS Endeav, you're being free with the names of those you accuse, but you've blacked out your name and (reasonably) your address from your Paypal transaction details. WHO are you?

OK, I just hung up the phone, I had an hour long conversation with Dennis
and he has made some commitments, acknowledged what happened and apologized.
He told me what I believe to be the truth as to why it got this far but that isn't as
important as moving forward to resolving this and having closure.

KojiroVance, you ask why I blacked out MY name, simple, because the victims name has been changed to protect the innocent! A little poke at Dragnet but seriously, the name of the victim isn't important to helping prevent future victims.

That having been said and back onto what I was going to say, we spoke at length
about what happened and how we can move to resolve it. I told him a UPS delivery will go a long way towards resolving this although at this point, some of the original order is either not available or not something I want so we have worked out a tenative arangement for some of what was ordered all of those years ago and a partial refund.

I am reserving judgement until this matter is resolved, I ask that everyone else do the same. He assured me it was not his intention to "take the money and run", and right now, only his actions will determine if this is truth or just words. I told him that the day I stopped by, I would have preffered it was a social visit, not a debt collection.

As of right now, he is stepping up and addressing it, unlike some of the horror stories I have read about guys like Tait and Stone. The next step is to see if he lives up to his word. I will keep this thread as well as the others updated.

.

You're reserving judgment? after being robbed of four thousand dollars and hung out to dry, you're still not going to make a call on what you think about this guy??

Well sir, you are a far less passionate collector than! :lol

Only took about six months of DS ripping my work off for me to be convinced that he's not worth my time. There's probably a good reason that he has such a bad reputation online, you know. Those things are earned, not given.

With that said, I really hope you get your money back, or get your product. 4k is nothing to sneeze at, and I think you have the patience of a saint for waiting so long to apply appropriate pressure on him. Please keep us posted on your progress.

I would not reserve judgment after the lack of communication, I would be furious. If the refund you spoke of is not sent with due haste, I would follow it all up with legal work.

I guess I have a soft spot for Dennis, at the time I was getting into props, I knew absolutly nothing, I mean nada, zip zilch. I couldn't tell the difference between a COA and
the IOA (ok, thats a joke). I came onto the ASAP scene and made a few blunders that didn't go over well with a lot of people and being the defensive person I can, I fired back blindly without thinking. Dennis was the only person to not care what the forum opinion was and to sell to me. This was a big deal for me at the time because I was a buyer with no seller. Over the years, he shared knowledge and teqnique with me that has helped me expand what I know and feel comfortable doing. Some weeks ago I dropped the newly painted OEM spolier I bought for my car, cracked the edge and of course ruined the paint. If not for what I learned working with props and having Dolphin Glaze handy, I would have had to shell out $300 to fix it.

I thought of him as a friend. I have pictures of me and my wife sitting in his Bat Mobile
after driving to MD to meet with him. I didn't do that because I thought of him only as a supplier of parts. Not once have I had dinner with my local Honda parts person and I buy from him on a regular basis as well.

I hope very much he restores my faith in our friendship, I really do but if not....

I prefer to keep thinking positive....I am borderline Type II hypertensive and I'm
not interested in crossing the threshold.

Haha, chortle, snicker, ok all kidding aside YES IT IS pal. If you can't divulge your name, then your claims of Person X pretending to Person Y really can't be taken on faith. ... Just exercise caution that you're not making slanderous assertions that aren't true -- IANAL, but I believe you can be sued for that, and being owed money isn't a defense.

Anyway, glad to hear it's being worked out. Got my fingers crossed for you.

Wow Endeav!!!
U are a very patient and true gentlemen!!!!! wow i honestly wish more ppl in this hobby were like u, so understanding and kind. i do hope that your patients and good nature are rewarded by making Dennis realize the break he is getting from your side. But i do think that Documenting every thing and getting a file ready would be good. if he doesnt finalize this time i think a visit to the local police and possible Fraud unit of the FBI is in order.......

Ur a saint man!!!!!:angel

Soft spots and $$$$ have no business here. Sorry, but it is true.

LOL!

Oh contrare! $$$ has a lot of business here! Just ask people selling stuff!
They are hoping to find lots of $$$ here!

But I get your point...and I agree, mostly. He was like a mentor so I would
rather exhaust every avenue to be made whole again before taking things
to the next level but rest assured, I am not above doing so to recover
what is rightfully mine. I have only to look at myself for understanding, I have
client/friend that purchased a scope for a rifle from someone and then sent it to me for some work he wanted. I sent it back and in a very short time, it was stolen from him. Using forums like these, he located it and recovered it but there was damage done to it he wanted corrected so naturally he thought of me. He sent it to me and I am ashamed to admit it took me
the better parts of 2 years to finish it and return it. Not once did he get mad or make any demands or get nasty with me. I had major life issues (bought a house/had major surgery/job relocated)come up in those years and he understood why I had delays. I fixed it for free because I felt it was the least I could do having dragged my azz for so long with it.

I'm just waiting at this point, the ball is with Dennis.

In print its "libel." (Didn't you see Spiderman?)

And that is only true if the accusation is not true. Which it appears it is.
