Hi guys,
I've been reading this forum now for some time, both for my own enjoyment (I love movie props, always have) and for getting information about how certain props look, how to achieve things etc. This forum is the best.
I'm constantly seeing amazing sculpts, either full scale or 1/4 scale of characters like Superman, Batman, Arnie etc... and they're amazing, seriously jaw dropping. So i figured I'd just put my (smaller) attempts up for you to see.
These are Sideshow's Star Wars Anakin and Obi-Wan 12" figures, which I love, the detail is amazing... but for me (being an artist and a perfectionist... bad combination.) I could see things in the sculpts and paintjobs that were not accurate enough for me... so I cast them, spent weeks on and off resculpting them, and made new versions. The new paintjob on the cast finished them off. And now i LOVE these on my shelves. Can't stop looking at them. Hope you enjoy having a quick look.
First are pics of the original heads 'as they came' (pics taken from different sources... I forgot to take my own), then there are various pics of the new ones.

For Anakin the sculpt changes were (i think this is all of them)
- most of the hair
- nose shape, and where it joins the forehead
- upper lip and philtrum (vertical lines to the nose)
- chin, jaw and cheeks
- adams apple moved higher
- reshaped the hairline and sculpted new hair
- sculpted a gap between the 2 sides of hair, to show the scalp in the part (as on any normal person)
- built up the cheeks, and lessened the 'bumpiness' of the beard
- reshaped his moustahce and goatee
- reshaped his sideburns
- resculpted his nose (it was much to big, concorde-like)
- filled out and resculpted the shape of his neck at the back, and behind his ears
- and finally gave him a new hairline at the bottom of the back of his head against his new neck
I'm not happy with the paintjob on Obi-Wan, the eyes dont look as real as they should... I kind of rushed it so I could get on with some casts, lol. But I'm still happy with how it looks up on my shelf
