Hey all!
I'm starting my very own Portal Gun! AND BOOTS! Woo! I've been researching the build since Pax East... and now it's time to start doing!
The Gun: I'm hoping to work in a spring-action trigger - I'd like it to move when it shoots. Also, I plan to use old camera lenses for the muzzle of the gun (Aperture Science... camera lenses...). If anyone has experience with building guns with moving elements or finding cheap camera parts I'd love to chat!
While I've been searching for cheap/broken lenses, Valve posted the "Boots" video I'm sure many of you have seen:
YouTube - Aperture Investment Opportunity #4: "Boots"
I downloaded the video and converted the whole thing into a .png sequence! Happy to share - just let me know!
Now, the boots in the video are different from the footwear in the original... but at least I won't have to walk around barefoot at conventions. Huzzah.
Casting my legs/feet today - I'm thinking upper part of the boot will be hard plastic and lower parts cast silicone and/or urethane rubber; the bar in the back will be steel.
Here we go!
