Working Aldhani Macrobinocular Build

Hoping I am posting this in the right place!!! Usually I stay in my lane and stick to lightsaber builds and installs...but I think I may have found a new obsession.

Man was this a fun little project. This all stared with a Kenobi Macrobinoculars build. It sent me down a DEEP macro rabbit hole. Hours combing though the RPF (shout out to Archive&Future and the great build they made for the inspiration for some of the greebs on my build, as well as the stills) and other prop forums, and watching screen grabs of Andor later, I chose this version to be the next build in my lineup.

The base of this build is an 8mm try lens Bell and Howell Director Series Movie Camera. One of the first things I knew I wanted to achieve wit this build was a WORKABLE prop. I wanted the viewfinder to actually be usable. I cheated a bit here and found pair of cheap night vision goggles with internals that had a small enough footprint that would fit in the internals of the camera after I gutted it. So the proof of concept was there, all I needed to do was design the greeblies, and source some more real world greeblies to make it look a little more unique.

I based the visor and side handles off screen grabs, the remaining greeblies are a mixture of canon y and real world parts. I also designed a switch holder so that I can still utilize the menu screen of the original camera system. The lenses still rotate and are completely usable and functional. Charging is done through USB C, and videos can be exported though a micro SD card.

I plan on doing more of these, but will likely design and program a custom Raspberry Pi or Devboard camera with a custom screen for an even more accurate in world look.

I will be filming a deep dive demo video for this build and talk a little more about what went into the build for my YouTube channel in the next week or so. Thanks for looking!

we're you able to make a video on these? Could you share what model night vision binoculars you used for the build?
