Nostromo ship graphics by Ron Cobb

I remember seeing a series of the corridor graphics that were done by Ron Cobb for the Nostromo such as the airlock graphic of the spacesuited man floating on a black background.

Does anyone have these or have a link?

THose were reprinted in one of the books. Cobb called it "Semiotic Standard" (meaning I suppose "standard for signage").. really brilliant stuff, it was Cobb's designs, blueprints as well as graphics, that gave the Nostromo its "real world" ambiance.

Cobb's signage has been rendered as GIFs here (tho not as precisely as printed in that book)

Thanks Karl, those are the ones I was talking about. I seem to remember someone redoing them in Illustrator and uploading a PDF or maybe just a much better graphic image of the designs. I guess if I can't find them I could try my hand at redoing them.

I have the JPGs that were posted back then. I am a big Ron Cobb Fan and think his spacecraft designs are among the best and most realistic. I own the Thinking Cap Co. Alien Patch design portfolio signed by him. I can email the pics if you want. I think if I post them to photobucket they will end up resized unfortunately.

I Interviewed Ron Cobb for a Cinefex Article I wrote for Total Recall way back in the early 90's --he is amazingly talented- and a really nice guy!

I can host them so that you can post them and they will not be resized.

I think I have that Cinefex, cool.

I sent them to surfergeek, but if somebody else wants to get them that is fine by me. They weren't mine but were posted as a free paper prop or at least just info. I will have to dig out my Book of Alien to compare.

I have those markings in .cdr format, and can easily change them to an .eps format for Illustrator. All line/vector art and easily resizeable.

**edit**

Nevermind, I *thought* I had them done but can't seem to find them. At least I have a new project to work on today. :unsure

I recreated the whole set a while back, and posted it here (or at Propcircle) I believe.

I'll go take a look and see if I can find them....

Thanks Ben as well as everyone else. The ones that Andy sent were nice, high resolution jpgs. I was comparing those to the ones he sent and it appears there are a few missing so I'm interested in seeing the ones that Ben did.

Hmm... the ones that Karl linked to had 32 images and the ones that you sent had 24 with a couple of repeats. Weird. :confused

Yep, that sounds like the one I did. I redid the whole sheet as seen on the Alien special edition, but broke it up into chunks that could print out on 8.5 x 11 adhesive paper. Since there weren't enough to evenly fill six per sheet, I repeated a couple to fill out the extra space.

(I still have the Illustrator files somewhere, if you need larger versions).
