I'm REALLY new to all things involving prop building. I've read many posts concerning construction of many things. I've heard the term "Rotocasting" thrown around. Would someone take sometime out of their busy schedule to explain to this noob what it is and how it's done?

Thanks in advance...

Rick

A rotocaster is a machine that rotates the mold on all axes.
A small amount of resin is placed into the mold, and then the
mold is rotated. The resin coats the inside of the mold evenly.

This results in a casting that is thin, hollow and light weight.
It also reduces the amount of resin needed.

Yes, also if you are making something from rubber, you wouldn't want it to be solid necessarily - it would weigh a ton!

These things are pretty expensive though (for good ones.) Typically used for helmets and costume parts that need to be hollow.
