Noob New Series Dalek Question - Doctor Who

So I've just inherited a home-made, foam board dalek that someone put together pretty quickly. It's a bit of a mess, but it's my first full-size dalek and, damn it, it's mine. Eventually I'm going to fibreglass it, but in the mean time, I"m looking to make some quick fixes to pretty it up.

Here's my question - are there any quick and easy parts (other than yes, the plunger :) ) that I can buy cheaply and to scale? The hemispheres, the slats, the eyepiece? I'm under-researched on dalek building and was hoping to get the 101 here to tidy mine up before I really get into the build later this year.

For the hemispheres you could use plastic toy balls or capsules from toy vending machines, cut them in half then paint them up and bolt them onto the skirt. For a 2005 Dalek they should be about four inches in diameter.

I just started building one myself and I'm heavy into the research right now, feel free to hit me up on facebook for info whenever. For the hemispheres the most affordable/quality option seems to be the ornament balls that Jo-Ann's and Michael's sell around the holidays. 2 hemis for $2. I'll be picking up a set of them as soon as they come in stock. From experience, the eye stalk done right will be one of the most expensive parts. Mine ran approximately $160 in parts. I can give you a comprehensive list if you'd like so you don't waste your money on trial and error like I did. I spent about $200 total because of that.

All in all, the lower half of the Dalek can be built on $100 budget if you plan it out right, the head will run you at least $400 if you don't make the dome yourself. The neck will be around $100-150. Haven't done the math on the shoulders yet, but the arms will be about another $200-400 depending on how you go about the custom lathed parts for the gun arm.

Appreciate it! Like I say, the build I have is a fright at the moment, but is a good base and has a lot of the hard work done. The hemi's are too small though, and really look awkward. Which are the good dalek builders forums? I should probably sign up.

projectdalek.com is the only one I know of, and there's info there if you know where to look, but it's a pain to dig up anything of value. Hence why I dropped extra cash when I didn't need to.

I think I'll end up ordering the plunger from them myself. It would cost me just as much if not more for the parts, mold, and rubber to make it myself and this would save me a ton of effort. The hemi gaskets look pretty nice, too. Too bad there aren't 56 in stock.
