Does anyone make decent metal comic based wolverine claws? I know there are several types. Just curious if any others besides the set of bone claws were done??
I'm not selling any nor plan on making more, but I did a cross between a comic and movie version claws some years back.
These are made out of aluminum which is a bit thicker than 1/4". I actually sharpened and shaped these using rasps and then sandpaper.
a few years back me and a friend were planning to make a Wolverine vs Deadpool fanfilm, and i was to make the claws. these ones were for *snikt* shots, and i'd make a solid mounted set for fights. Considering the budget and equipment I had($20, a Leatherman and and a dremel), I'd say they're pretty darn awesome.
They're just hardwood dowels covered in aluminum tape, set inside PVC pipes by a length of chain. I hadn't planned it, but by securing them to the pipe with metal chain, they make a great *snikt* sound when deployed and retracted. The film fell through, so they never went passed the prototype stage.
in the film i'd be wearing leather gloves to hide the protruding piping, and the claws would come out through slits cut in the backs.
i had the idea that if push came to shove and i couldn't manage a metal set, I could just carve and paint the wood claws to look like bone. IIRC Woverine fought DP once after he lost his adamantium(correct me if i'm wrong; it's been a while.).
