Non-members selling in the JY

Lost in Trek

Sr Member
RPF PREMIUM MEMBER
I've seen posts from time to time in which a member attempts to sell something on behalf of a non-member. Sometimes asking those interested to contact the non-member directly concerning the sale.

My concern is this seems to bypass the purpose of the JY, a place for members to buy/sell/trade. If the buyer encounters a problem is the RPF member who made the listing culpable? What methods do the Mods have to put pressure on a non-member to correct a problem. It's not like the seller can be banned.

This is in the COC "Members may not post items for sale or coordinate sales made by non-RPF members. "

Is this policy enforced?

If you see something like that in the JY you should click the
report.gif
icon (left side of the screen, under the members avatar) to report it to one of the mods.

I know the mods have mentioned a few times that they don't view every thread and that they would appreciate it if members would report posts that are contrary to the CoC.

So that's what I would do. :)

This "rogue seller" thing is becoming more and more popular it seems.

I agree. It rather defeats the purpose of the junkyard rules.

You simply can't govern a non-member. If they want to offer product here they can go through the motions like everyone else had to. They shouldn't be able to lean on an established member.

I'm sure the first thing that member would do should there be a problem is scream, "I was just the messenger!"
