It seems that Noble Collection is also releasing a number of prop replicas as announced on theonering.net. Orders commence next week!

Their Contract is only $39: Collecting The Precious – The Noble Collection’s Bilbo Baggins Contract | Hobbit Movie News and Rumors | TheOneRing.net

Collecting The Precious – The Noble Collection’s Orcrist Sword Replica | Hobbit Movie News and Rumors | TheOneRing.net

They also have a dual Thror's map and Erebor key for $79: Collecting The Precious – The Noble Collection’s Thorin’s Map and Key | Hobbit Movie News and Rumors | TheOneRing.net

Orcrist! Oh my wife would kill me... But I just might have to take that risk.
I have the UC Glamdring and the museum edition Sting (among many others).

Looking forward jheilman's map to become available again.

Ah here it is...

So, now I don't know what key to get, maybe both, that display looks nice, too... But the contract is a good alternative, I hope this time it's is more acurate than other pieces (HP Marauders map i.e.)

I'm wondering if Gandalf's staff from here is shorter than life size...They have it advertised as "over 5 feet" which usually means just a couple of inches over, yet the UC version is listed at 73"

I wonder if they are going to "correct" the mistake made in the LOTR trilogy and have Glamdring AND Orcrist glow?
technically they should....

I doubt it. Unless they digitally go back to the trilogy and make it glow, but if it's only going to glow in The Hobbit, then I guess there's no point.

So with the release of the Desolation of Smaug, I did some searching with some of the Noble Collection stuff I was curious about: namely, the illuminating Sting and Gandalf staffs.

Thinkgeek has posted some more info and a short video on Gandalf's illuminating staff: ThinkGeek :: Hobbit Staff of Gandalf FX Replica

They also posted about the illuminating Sting: ThinkGeek :: Hobbit Sting FX Sword
Seems to have swooshing fx sounds that the old MR one didn't have.

Found these youtube videos on the two pieces:

I recommend the WETA key over the Noble one.

A friend bought the Noble one, while I bought the WETA one, and while both are made of metal, the WETA one has the advantage of being made by the people who made the actual prop.

The details on the runes on the Noble replica are slightly off.

Now while I think for accuracy's sake, the WETA prop is better, there are two areas the Noble prop have an advantage.

1) The NLP copyright is molded into the WETA while only painted on the Noble version.
2) The Noble prop includes a display case if you buy the single prop, or the map display if you buy the combo, the WETA prop only includes a stand.

The Noble prop is nice, but I feel the WETA one is nicer.

The MR Sting from ten years ago had better-looking illumination of the blade. EL which fades with use, but anyway, it is not a torch.
