Ok, I know a lot of us had been waiting for this one to come out, and it's finally in stock, I just recieved mine yesterday, and I can say that I am fairly happy with it. Now, since they raised the price to $195, I can also say that if I were you guys, wait for them to hit ebay for less.

The prop itself-- a 7 or 8 out of 10... Good prop, but some things i would change.
Service from Noble Collection-- 9/10 ... Great service, no complaints
price-- 7/10 .. good prop, not worth nearly 200.00, but what are you gonna do.

I must say I'm happy, I got what I was expecting, and it looks great with my other davinci code props.

Here are some pics:

Shouldn't it have been an 8/10 overall? If it was a 7 or 8 in one category (or, say, a 7.5) and a 9 in the other, that should've raised the combined score. :p

Thanks for posting your review.

I'm interested in knowing more specifics, though, about the things you like and the things you'd change. :confused

lol, ok, I'll change that...but I think you get the point, I should have just put price.

Well, about sepcifics.... ummm, well, you know in the movie how the rose on the box pops out? so does this one, but no writing on it, why waste the time making it pop out if it doesn't say anything?

and the dials are a little loose sometimes and hard to turn others, it should be smoothing turning for them all.

As for good points, well, here we go:
1) I love the heft of it, it has a good weight to it, and there's something about that that makes it cool, lol
2) It comes with the box, I'm just glad it has that, its a cool box, wrather than just giving you the cryptex.
3)It looks dead on with the movie in almost every way, as far as I can tell.

Despite some minor complaints, I love it, and would recommend you get one, most likely off ebay at a lower price, but if price isn't a bother to you, just go get one, great prop.

Is the cryptex due to be released with the DaVinci Code deluxe boxed set also from Noble, or just a cheap knockoff?
[/b]

Only if the price was $220 with the noble being $200 alone. Probably will be a cheap knock off.

Been toying with getting this item. Can you set any code at all into it? Also, is it 1:1 scale with the movie version?

I recall reading in the Noble catalog that you can indeed change the password to whatever you like, which I thought was a cool feature. Unfortunately, the $200 price tag is what has been keeping me from getting one of these.

I just received mine yesterday as well..... I was very impressed with the overall quality. A nice heavy, substantial replica.

I received mine last week also, and was quite suprised that it came, being the cards they kept sending in the mail said it was due out in November.... I also noticed the price increase, which makes me glad that I pre-ordered it sooner...

All in all I think this is a fantastic piece, The weight of it makes it feel that much more authentic... The dials on mine are not too tight, not too loose, which again feels right to me...

You have to dismantle the whole cryptex to change the code, but its not too difficult, just un-screw 3 very tiny screws, and take off each ring to set to the desired code......

Thanks for the added details, spiderfan11, and thanks to others who have added their opinions. This piece sounds a lot nicer than I originally expected. Now I'm thinking about getting one. I guess I have all of you to blame, uh, thank, for that. :)

Hmmmmm... nice of you all to respond to my post from 10 days ago....

I'll just assume everyone received theirs after my thread moved far down the pages. :)

I know I shouldn't ask since I'll end up paying the current price, but what was the price
before they raised it to $195?

For the past couple weeks on ebay, 98% of the ones sold are the "cheaper" version at ~$80.
The very few high-end ones on there are listed for higher than what Noble charges.

Anyone think the price will go down on ebay soon?

The "Da Vinci Code" comes out on DVD on November 14th and the special edition comes with a Cryptex and a reproduction of Langdon's journal from the authentic movie prop. I might have to consider it.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

I believe those are the mini ones, not full sized.

That's correct. To me, the proportions on it don't look right, like it's too fat, and the plastic white dials don't look very good. If I bought a cryptex, it would have to be the full size Noble one.

now who is going to take it a part so we can see how it is made and works...
I would love to make one but not sure where to start.
Its a frickn transformer afterall
