no one has mentioned Lilo in JAIL?

Release date is August 2. Fourteen days. That's 14. One-four.

Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan's jail sentence cut short - report | News.com.au

Surprisingly she isn't getting any special treatment, yet... Her sentence wasn't cut short it's just the way it works in the US...

90 day sentence = 51 days with good behavior

Non-vilolent female offenders in California are eligible to serve only 25% of their time due to overcrowding...

51 x .25 = 12.75 days

So she is eligible to be released after 13 days if she behaves, if she gets demerit points she will serve more time...

Someone threw confetti:

They've already said she'll only serve approximately two weeks "because of jail overcrowding and anticipated credits for good behavior," after which she has been ordered to spend three months in an inpatient rehab center. :rolleyes Has anyone started a pool on how long it'll take her to screw it up this time?

I know, I know. We have the same problem in this country. Too few prisons, too many people desperate to get into them.

But isn't it a bit of an indictment on our respective governments that they'd rather allow prisoners to be released shockingly early than build more jails? I'm open to other points of view, but I tend to think it kinda gives the lie to the whole 'law and order campaigning' bit politicians love to do.

'But isn't it a bit of a setting down in prose or verse on our respective governments...' Can't for the life of me work out what you're on about! (snigger, chuckle)

Sorry, just could not let it go by, hahaha...

YOU BASTICH!!!!!!! Lol, I'll getcha for that.

Fixed. Honestly, I'm doing well catching as many typos as I do. "Thing" for "think", all the damn time. What's with that? I hate getting old, heh.

I'm sure you will! I hear ya re the typos. Actually I do a lot of 'there/their' crap in my first drafts - never happened in my youth. Anyway I better get outa here and leave these good folks to their Lilo fun.

Its not even worth mentioning. She's a spoiled brat who's only going to serve 23 days which is a joke. Then she's going to make a ton of money giving her first post jail interview. So really, who cares?

14 days. Thirteen, really, if 2 August is right.

TMG, since whenever a new jail finally *does* get built we always hear about "jobs for the local community yay!!!"...you'd think, wouldn't ya?

Could they not get prisoners to BUILD the prison or like in the start of Rambo 2 , have every convict work in a stone quarry. Do they still have that in the US?

What's the bets the amount of "time" she'll serve will coincedentally be the same as the time it takes to file the paperwork for an immediate release.

I think it's a matter of economics and public interest...

Prisons are crazy expensive to build and run and it cost a huge amount per day for every prisoner to sit there, money that the public has to pay... Everyone already wants tax breaks, I doubt you will find many people willing to pay more taxes for a new prison in their town and do they even want one in their town to hold their own criminals or are they like most that want it in someone else's town as to not tarnish their town...

That is what it boils down to in the end, if the public isn't willing to support the system the system fails... And I don't see the public campaigning and collecting donations for new prisons in their towns so the criminals can server their time...

Just imagine if the local politician campaigned on the pledge to increase your taxes and build a new prison... He/She might as well just drop out of the race...

All this attention to the poor white girl. Wesley Snipes is going away for 3 years, and I guarantee he won't get a 75% reduction in his sentence. Yes he screwed up big time, but there are Murderers and Pedophiles that get lighter sentences.

If Lindsay Lohan behaves herself in jail, she'll serve only about 14 days of her 90-day sentence.

Cripes. If Lilo behaves herself in jail and no where else, why doesn't she move in and make movies there?

Probably not, but you are comparing Apple to Oranges...

A willful federal tax evasion crime for millions vs a DUI probation violation...

World of difference in the crimes...

And I highly doubt he will serve the 3 years, might not get the huge reduction but he will get one...
