The question came up by me because 2011 is an arbitrary year to release these. I know you can't tell Michael J. Fox, "Hey why don't you wait a few years for us to help you raise money for your foundation"

But I am intrigued because Disney did this same game with the whole Tron Legacy bit. So I am just wondering if they are prepping us for something coming up in 2015.

Then the discussion came up about what would be appropriate. I would HATE to see a re-boot, but I would also hate to see something without Michael J. Fox or Christopher Lloyd. I am pretty sure they could get Elizabeth Shue back, even though she wasn't in the first. Who knows. I don't even want to start a topic on it in the movie section.

It just sucks for us fans who always DREAMED about these shoes and can't have them cause this is a charity event.Don't take that the wrong way it's all for a GREAT cause but it just really pisses me off that in charity events there are people hired to make a thousand dollar bid as SOON as the new listing goes up.All these bids have the same amount on like 5 different auctions on 1 page.

Over all it sucks but it makes me smile knowing that the michael j fox foundation is really making that coin.

Let's just pray in a few days they go easy on us REAL FANS :cool

I worked at the Virgin Megastore in San Francisco and the Apple Store was right across the street.

The day the i-phone came out the line wrapped around a couple of blocks including the building.

People just like to brag that they were the first to get the hottest item. It's a retarded right to brag about but if you want to spend more then go for it.

I wouldn't mind saying, I got one of the last pairs, or I won them on the second to last day or even the third to last so long as I got it cheaper than the cool kids.

Well if the powerlaces are true come 2015 I will just have to sell my 2011 Mags to fund the new ones :cool.

I still doubt they can get the self lacing to function like it did in the movie, within the pre established design of the Mag.
If you read the interviews, you will know they had a tough time finding electrical components that would withstand the abuse of walking in the shoes - just imagine what hoops they would have to jump through to design, engineer and test micro mechanisms that not only have the ability to affectively pull the laces, but also withstand walking or even running as well as moisture.
I do believe Nike has more planned for the "Mag" - but this may very well be the first and ONLY time we see authentic replicas of the movie shoe....

I refuse to believe that it will take millions in R&D to develop that. That sketch they came up with is fairly plausible.

And I have seen people on this forum do way more amazing things with far fewer resources and knowledge. It can be done.

A theoretical drawing is one thing. Getting it to not only work, but function consistantly is the trick - and as I said, they have to work within the confinds of the existing design of the shoe. That being said, if they get it to work they may have to alter the design of the upper to accomidate the necessary mechanical components.

I think it can work, I just don't think it will tighten as fast as it did in the movie, I think that would be the only drawback. Plus there needs to be some sort of detection device to let the shoe know when it is as tight as it can go.

Other than that, I believe they can do it.

Motor hidden in sole or behind 'Nike MAG' hump.

FYI Adidas 1's had motor's in them. Not that far of a leap.

I would hate to see the malfunction if these were made into all shoes, if you walk through a giant puddle of water and the motor shorts out and completely cuts off the circulation to your foot.

But for just this shoe i would like it.
