Tried out the Rit dye on my soles last night, not sure if I was doing it right...perhaps there was too much water or something but it didn't really have much of an effect.

The picture is it just after I put it on, at first I thought it was going to be almost purple. In the end the results were not really worth showing :unsure

I tried it too and it did not have much of an affect on my soles - they stayed yellow. I hope you are able to fix your V2s rhodrijen- they look sweet.

Guys, seriously?! None of that confirms anything. Keep modding. I'll eat my lenticular hat if there are official Nike Mags this year.

After a few coats of rit dye, still not having much of an effect asides from leaving little weird bits of purple. I think adding alcohol may be the key to making this mod successful.

However I did get busy with the Dremel last night and did some shaping of the midsole....

Made the heel a bit more rounded and took quite a large section out of the middle bit but I really like the way its looking now. Obviously painting the midsole is coming soon.

Actually ordered some earlier today! them seem to be the highest capacity of rechargeable ones available.

yeah they do, hence why im interested.. let us know how they work..
i know a lot of china batteries say a mah but sometimes they are way less..

i dont know how to test that though

Buy a can of white vinyl dye and colour code that way the only thing you really have to worry about is the texture.

As I said, still not 100% perfect but heaps better than the last attempt. So as I explained earlier, I used aqua tinted rubber for the splatter but let it go from liquid state into gel state. From there and over the course of about 6 hours, it goes into a solid state as it cures and sets.

The beauty beauty of using rubber is that -
A. It bonds to the existing grey rubber and
B. It can be peeled off within a short time frame if you get it wrong.

I've already removed a big blob from the toe and thinned out a few of the side and heel parts. I'll pick at it some more no doubt tonight as I look over them and think I have got too many overly thick bits.

how strong is the adhesion of the new rubber to the grey rubber soles?
after its cured, can you still peel it off? and does it peel off if you scratch it or dig in with your fingers or is it properly stuck to the original grey soles?

how much time do you have to peel the stuff off if you want to do so before it cures fully?

I have yet to come accross on article that says they will be expensive, to me expensive is $1000+, and I have yet to come across one article saying they will be limited. Ive seen YouTube videos of the Nike factory with lines and lines and lines of the mag shoes and that tinker guy talking about them.

Those are videos from 2011.

There are no official confirmations about any new release.

Some thick bloggers write a blog and then all the sheep think it is factual.

Until Nike says so, there aren't any new releases.

Everything Tinker has said can be more easily interpreted as dry humor than as any official news. And he has only said two things: 1. Power laces are coming in 2015. (Which can easily be a joke about the movie) and 2) they have 11 and 2/3 months left to make it work. (Which is even more obviously a joke about the movie) As I've pointed out before, if they don't have their tech and tooling done by now there is essentially zero chance that they could bring anything to market this year.

Can we stop rumor-mongering? Again, I will eat my lenticular hat if we get official Nike Mags this year.

Look, I really think Tinker loves these shoes and wishes they could do a wide release, but it was hard enough to make them last for an extremely limited release that there is NO WAY that Nike corporate would ever attempt a wider release...with more complicated features. People would constantly be complaining about the electronics breaking. That makes zero sense for a major company like them.

So Keep Calm, and Mod Your Knockoffs.

First, that patent is old. (From around 2009 or 2010 if I remember) Second, companies patent things all the time that they never use. Apple's got patents from around 2006 where instead of a webcam, your computer would use every pixel of your screen as a sensor so you could look directly Into the eyes of someone you're Skyping with.

This is just confirmation bias at this point. You want Nike to release Mags so much that you're looking for any evidence that justifies it.

EDIT: note the date on the patent, April 29, 2009. http://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/WO2009134858
