Making these things are so therapeutic for me. If anyone is having trouble making these, I'd be glad to make a set for you, at a price of course ;-)

Looks like you are the wizard to see for this stuff. I'll give mine a go first and see what I can do.

hi
i was wondering if any of you guys have some pics of how you made the slits at the inside bottom of the grey fabric for the wires to go through.

i found it quite tricky to make the hole, had to use a coat hanger but it wasn't easy.

cutr the fabric with a craft knife , or lift the inner material off the sole so that a gap become present by seperating the 2 layers

Well that's the death of the 3v system sadly to say... :(

I have tried my final test today using 5300mah 3v batteries and I can't get them over 5hours, so... As the 9v batts I posted in the shopping link last longer its fair to say they are the best bet.

I still hope someone can prove me wrong but it's clear now it doesn't matter what Mah the battery has, if your running a EL 12v sheet it WILL suck all the juice from the battery.

Thanks Taff for trying out the 3v method. Now we know which batteries work best.

Taff, you are to Mag mods what Q Branch is to James Bond. :lol

Sorry to hear the experiment didn't go as planned, but at least you tried it. Can't wait to see how the rest of your mods go. And who knows, maybe someone else will jump into the fray on the 3v system and make it work. We're a stubborn bunch like that.

Thanks for your comments Robert and Nick, ye its a shame after all these months of trying pretty much every method of setting up a 3v system and spending nearly £80 on all types of batteries that i couldn't get over the 5 hour mark but the positive side of things the setup with all the EL panels and leds it will run on 3v after being told numerous times it wouldn't work, so funny to say i am still kinda happy about it all and for peace of mind we know we were right to stick to the 9v setup.

PS - if anyone is ordering a pair of mags and has trouble with customs in there country tell the seller to write on the box in big letters "HAPPY BIRTHDAY 'NAME' HERE IS YOUR FREE GIFT" my second pair took 1 day to clear U.K customs after telling Karin Chen to write that on the box, oh also if you are ordering a pair from her tell her you will not pay more than $230 and she should(as she did me) sell them for that price :)

Went to the hobby store today and got some glitter!

Don't worry, I ordered 2 more pairs from aliexpress. I just decided to go crazy with one pair only. :)

And plugged in the 9v battery and connecting the wires to the pannel and nothing lights up.

That's because that sheet is too large for the 9v inverter to light up. You need to cut the shapes out you need and then it will work on them.

Thanks for the heads up. I realized that year ago I was wearing my V1 K-MAGs and right now, I don't any MAGs to wear. I think a pair to wear as kicks would be good to have whist I finish off this latest scratch build.

I just ordered my pair. :D I order size 8.5. I have ordered everything I need to mod my shoes and I'm filled to the brim with excitement. Also has anyone else done or is planning on painting more splatter on the midsoles?

And Taff, on the two connectors that I ordered, the parts that you plug in to charge, do you just cut the other end off? It doesn't seem like it has any use.

how long does the 3v setup last which you implemented?
which batteries did you try?

ive just completed first pair using 3v (2 x AAA batteries) and everything is running, both el strap, cutouts and leds.

im going to do a full test to see how long these last on several types of aaa batteries, standard alkaline and lithium.

im pretty sure these 3v (2 x AAA) should last quite a while, since ive put in the appropriate resistors (15 ohms) on this setup.

The main thing is getting the correct forward voltage drop for the leds wherever you are buying them from.

The dc jacks? No you only need the pin end so you can plug it into the buckles.

Speaking of buckles my second set of Cloneprops buckles arrived and I am amazed at the difference between the polished and non polished finishes.. Seriously anyone ordering these get them white strong flexible polished, you will not be disappointed :)

Also I made up a new led board for 12v LEDs running Parallel. It is salvaged from a plastic tub of butter and to answer the question; 6 tracks can be achieved and yet again this pair of shoes will have no resistors installed.

@Airair - I tried digital camera batteries 1200mah-2000mah, mobile phone batteries from 1600mah-2500mah, AA and AAA batteries over 2k mah all types nihm,li-ion Ect) finally I tried the below battery, it's slightly larger than a AA battery but would have still fit in the soles. Anyway I look forward to hearing your progress and hopefully you can get over the 9v setup 6 1/2-7hr)
