Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

It's just tricky wording he used. Read it again...

ALL LIGHTING WORKS EXCEPT THE NIKE LIGHT STRAP ON THE FRONT STRAP NEVER WORN THIS AUCTION IS FOR SHOES ONLY NOT THE CERAMIC UNIT SHOE. PHOTOS WILL BE SUPPLIED AT THE END OF AUCTION
Failing to add punctuation is laziness on his part, not being tricky :)

To quote the Admiral "ITS A TRAP!"

I will bet you that it was intentional and NOT laziness. :rolleyes

Alright, trickery then. False and misleading to say the least and I guess we will see many more of these as those less informed seek out these shoes.

Its like those people who sell a BOX of an iPhone 5 and sell it as

"***BRAND NEW iPhone 5 In Box****"

Then do a full list of the phones features etc, then hide this at the bottom "Auction is for BOX Only"

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

What LEDs did you buy out of curiosity??

CJ68 to CJ70 green yellow red details here : 12V 3mm LEDs : 3mm LEDs : Maplin Electronics

having some problem charging the 9v battery though, the 9.1v zener diode drops the voltage by 3volts only giving me around 6v... i have de-soldered it and it now runs 9v again... alot of testing today before i finally close everything up but what a nightmare this has been.

I think the easiest option is to buy the 9v batteries Brad linked earlier with the dc port on them

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

You'd hate for the power to go from the charger back to the charger. I imagine that could be ugly.
so essentially the diode blocks the current on the positive wire so it doesnt have power going to the charger. i think i understand now.
thanks

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

did you guys just save the old on/off button or get a new one?

Or worse still, sell a link to an item on eBay as was recently seen. How do these people sleep at night knowing what they are doing is so wrong?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Yo I'm cracking up over here reading these posts. You guys are on it! Haha. Still wondering about the v2 with lit up strap. Hey MAN, you can't reuse the old button, it isn't an on/off button. Taff, a 3 volt drop seems kinda high, I think my drop is only .7. Hate to see ya catch a snag.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Just got my shoes in the mail. Only had time to open the box and look at them before going to work. They look HUGEEEE lol.

Yep! I got a size 8.5 and I'm usually a 9.5. Now I haven't seen them in person as they've gone directly to a genius :love... but I think everyone has said that it's better to go a size or even more smaller than you normally would!

Bingo thats why!

12V leds and your putting 9v through them means you wont need to use a resistor as your supply voltage is under there maximum... You dont have to use 12V leds you can use "normal" ones IE ones with a forward voltage of around 1.8-2.2v...just means you have to use a resistor to limit the current/voltage.

Theres nowt wrong with your way of doing it if it works obviously...I didnt realise thats what you were using and why I was saying you needed resistors (which you do for "normal" LEDs).

Maybe you mentioned that and I missed it :$

Built up version 2 of my inverter now and will test that over the weekend...if it works il send you some prezzies :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I'm normally a size 11 in Nikes. I measured my foot from heel to toe...11 and 1/4 inches. I emailed Karin and had her measure the size 11 shoe. It was the same. so i went ahead and got a size 11. Lol. Things look like boats.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Things look like boats.

They definitley look better ones the toe slim is done HOWEVER they still fit big. I have ordered 9.5's and I normally wear 10.5-11. They fit nice and snug.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

can anyone tell me the size of the size 8.5 from heel to toe?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

While we're on the subject, Brad can you tell me the overall outside length for the size 11?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

So I built my own PCB again and this is version 3 of my inverter. I have another PCB that il make Monday or Tuesday as the ic that uses (from a different manufacturer) only got delivered as I was leaving work. So technically that one will be version 2. But then I can modify each of the circuits so that they work on different voltages for 9v, 5v or 3v or whatever. So there could technically be versions of the versions...rofl.

This one is slightly larger then the original as it requires a larger inductor but its still under half the height of the normal inverter. Version 2 is still 20mm by 20mm but this is about 30mm by 20mm and 3mm higher/taller.

It appears to work too! Get a healthy voltage out of it but I left my el panels at workso plan to pop to work in the morning to collect them and try the circuit on an actual el panel. This is looking a lot more promising in comparison to the first one I built

Nice Rich! I can't wait for this to be finished :D

I re did a shoe tonight so all the lights run off one switch and I have rechargeable battery, I used the existing LEDs boards on the v2 just de soldered the LEDs and put my 12v ones in(no resistor needed) just one more shoe to finish tomorrow then it's back to sorting the 3v setup.. If I can get 8-12hrs+ I will purchase another pair of these.

Ps if anyone needs the switches I have used in the U.K I will ship them for free. (2 per person though) I have about 30 left, just pm me.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Keep a couple for me please? Or better still what make are they etc and I'll grab a couple myself

Once I have perfected this little bugger I'll send one up for you to test out hopefully next week
