I had the same problem when I initially tried soldering. I saw a soldering video online where you melt the solder on to the wire first so when you go to solder it to the tape, you just need to have it there for a second or two which prevents melting away the plastic. It worked really well. I'm going to have to check out this wire glue for future project though...

I tried soldering initially, but the heat from the iron warped the plastic and melted away some of the tape. I ended up having to order a second set of EL's. Jefifyfe used wire tape on his EL panels, so I thought I'd give that a try. I had much better luck with the wire glue, as you can see.

Good to know. I'm not a very experienced solderer, so anywhere I can eliminate that step works for me!

Finally finished. Although I think it would've been easier if there was a left & right Nike EL, as on the right shoe strap I had to have the wire go round the back of the EL to reach the connectors.....if that makes sense. :wacko

Very good point, Mark, can you make this change to the kit so you get an EL sheet for the left and right to avoid having to double back on the wire? All you'd have to do it flip the nike decal the other way around

Anyone have a set of Mark's El Light Strip light up NIKE logos they no longer need? I need to replace one on my straps that I accidentally bent the strip modding my shoes and the EL now has some dark markings on the EL when lit up. I actually only need one of the EL light NIKE logos only. Please let me know.
