Limited Run Nike MAG Strap Upgrade Kit - Shipping 10/05/15!

Re: Nike MAG Strap Upgrade Kit

Anyone have a template for the exact size to be cut on the strap for the el nike logo?

Re: Nike MAG Strap Upgrade Kit

So when I was putting my strap kit together, one of the terminals on the battery holder snapped. I bought a replacement from Amazon and fixed it, but the replacement came in a pack and I have a few extra battery holders.

If you messed up your battery holder I'll send you an extra for free (until I run out)

Just PM me if you want one.

Re: Nike MAG Strap Upgrade Kit

silly question perhaps, but why cant the wires come soldered already so when you get the wires you just install them under the straps and switch it on?
again no experience in this so maybe im missing something here..

you're paying for the parts wich keeps costs down if mark built them you'd have to pay for his labor as well as his time most likely doubling the price if you can't solder buy some wire glue on eBay

Re: Nike MAG Strap Upgrade Kit

Just a quick question. I'm worried about soldering the wires to the EL connectors, so would using wire glue be just as good as soldering? I asked Mark & he said to solder them but I'm worried about burning the thin connectors. Whats everyone else doing to connect their EL logos?

thanks in advance! :)

hi DeloreanRob,

yes, you can use wire glue instead of soldering.

Hey Mark,

I got your PM, I tried to respond but I got an error saying your message box is full. I'll try to respond again later today.

It is. I procured it from RadioShack (the one nearest me doesn't seem to be closing -- not right away anyhow). It's very runny, so it took a lot of trial and error to figure out a way to apply it to the wire tape without having the glue for each wire come into contact with one another. Ultimately, I squeezed out a small amount onto a piece of paper and then used a toothpick to dab a little bit at a time onto the wire leads. I did one wire, let it dry, then did the other. I put the toothpick under the tape to raise it up enough so that the leads made good contact before gluing. Once both were dry and secure, I used white electrical tape to seal it up.

I tried soldering initially, but the heat from the iron warped the plastic and melted away some of the tape. I ended up having to order a second set of EL's. Jefifyfe used wire tape on his EL panels, so I thought I'd give that a try. I had much better luck with the wire glue, as you can see.
