NIKE MAG Patterns

Being totally over stabbing and cutting myself hand stitching, I broke out the sewing machine again. The problem right now is I need to source needles with larger holes because that #20 thread is almost as large as the needle shaft. So I used to the original upholstery thread ($6/100m) I used back when I first began making these shoes.

When I have been hand stitching, I would cut out the shape of each part and sew over the edge. In this case, I have decided to sew the sheets together and trim after the parts are sewn.

These are also made using the revised patterns above and it seems that extra size on the collar is working out.

I did contact him on the advice that I take what he says with a grain of salt. His price was actually really good and his workmanship looks to be very good too, just that he may or may not actually deliver.

I know you have made some progress on this but it's scattered between threads. Do you mind updating all of your progress here?

Given the first 6 pages have a heap of what might be called "mis-information" (patterns are wrong), it might be best to start a new thread for these shoes.

Just scrolling up the last page and I was on the right track. Shape was just out.

What would that thread be called? lol "Official Nike MAG Patterns"?

Lets call it the "Official Nike MAG Pattern Discussion Thread". That way we are simply discussing the patterns and showing demonstrations of how the parts go together.

You can start it if you want.

I think I should leave it to the enthusiast on the matter. I have never even attempted to make an upper. I think you have more to say.

Hello RPF,

After several months, I have almost finished my NIKE MAG project.

Given the huge BTTF following here, I would like to share the patterns I created for the shoes so others can make their own.

This was my first attempt at making anything like this, so please excuse some of the rough edges. In fact, prior to a few weeks back, I could not even sew on a button, so I think I have made some real progress here.

OK back to the patterns.

After several revisions, I think I finally have this sorted. I am leaving the pattern as a thumbnail only.

The changes I've made include widening the tongue, the Ankle Strap and changed the sole. I've also added a seam extension where I felt I needed more room on my own project.

The squares should be 25mm x 25mm for a 1:1 of this. Those of you with larger feet should be able to scale these in a program like Paint using "image re-size".

The complex plastic parts like the Ankle Buckle and Heel Cup will be offered in the JY for those that are interested. I hope to be able to offer clear soles as well soon.

I've faked my EL using 3M reflective tape, but I am sure someone here would be more than capable of doing a set with true EL.

Sorry not to disturb you but the photos don't seem to appear

This thread is dead in the water. No one is trying to make these shoes anymore now that the V3s are out.
