Expect some extra Mags to hit the market. My cousin from Portland has a friend who works for Nike and they did their own employee raffle for $5/ticket. Her friend WON, and without trying to expose him I'll stay silent on what he's doing with them. I'm not sure how many they raffled.

I sort of like the little display they have, so I figured I'd make some for my V3's. I've got the acrylic image almost done to be etched. I noticed the base that the shoes actually sit on have the paint splatter pattern that the mags have on them. Does anyone have a paint splatter pattern that is similar to the mags?

Going to sandblast it since I am going to run LEDs under it to do sort of an edge lit thing. I'll laser cut the other parts though, I have a hard time getting frosted even etches with the laser. Sandblast is super even and smooth. :thumbsup

Depends if you want the text or the whole the panel to light. If you just etch, and edge light, only the text lights. if you sand blast, the whole thing lights up. Me personally, I'd only want the text.

Not sure what you mean exactly. I only want the black area in the image I posted lit up. I'll invert that image, cut a masking out on vinyl and it will cover the rest of the acrylic...so only the black areas in that image will be frosted, the rest will be clear.

This might explain better.
The NIKE plaque does not appear to have an edge light. Therefore the illumination is just from ambient room light.
Edge lit laser etched.
These panels are clear 3mm perspex with the decals laser etched. The images behind are faces printed on posters on basically a black back ground. When edge lit, only the etched parts catch the light and light up. Because the panel itself is still clear, it allows the image behind to be seen.
If you sand blast, the whole thing lights.
If it were my display, I would only want the text to light.

Yea I plan on posting vector files of it when its done, and all the templates for the actual cuts of the base...just in case someone wants to make one.

Yeah see this, nice video. As good as Crep Protect may be, I still wouldn't spray it onto those Mags.

I'm not sure if it is the boot toe or if they changed other parts, but yeah, these look chunky like a V2 more than the sleek look of the 2011 MAG or V3 we all know.
