So, I was searching for ideas of props to replicate a few weeks ago online, and also looking through some screen used items when I stumbled on an evilbay auction for a vintage brass Shere Neck police horse badge:

It measures 4.6 cm across and the back has two 1cm screw posts with locking nuts on them to go through leather. I got it from a military surplus seller in Cambridgeshire and I know that the police station scenes were filmed in Buckinghamshire.
My question is, is this production made, screen used, replica or what? It's solid brass and quite heavy. I just received it in the mail today and I was too excited to NOT post before digging deeper and finding out more about it.
Also, i'm trying to figure out what it says (in Latin or French?) at the bottom of the maple leaf.
