Definitely interested in a pair.

Huh, those absolutely seem to be the boots, although that means a different show company lied about being the ones to make them. And I'm simultaneously mad I never found that photo AND super proud of how well I figured out the design based on what I had.

This has pretty much been my struggle with identifying any of the real items from this show - everyone is claiming to have worked on it. It's very strange.

Ok, here's a shot of one of the first sample boots I've received. I've already got them working on a new sample with a whole lot of fixes, but as a first try it's not terrible.

llooking good so far. I'm looking forward to it!

Re: Newt Scamander's Boots from Fantastic Beasts.

This thread is really helpful, looking forward to seeing the final result. I was under the impression the boots were actual WWII double buckle boots, so in the meantime I have acquired a pair which seem to fit my cosplay well for now despite being a little too dark :)

Yep, that's what I thought they were at first too, even though the movie takes place about 15 years before they were invented... :D
They're a great option if you have them!!

Yes! My thoughts exactly, I thought the costume designers just did a slip up or something xD

Been a while since I've had anything to show here!

This is the second sample I've had made. I don't have them yet, the manufacturer sent these pictures. I'll update when they arrive. The first sample, in addition to the details they got wrong, was made with leather so stiff it was impossible to walk in them. I think I could have stood on the toe cap of the boots and not smushed it.

Also, obviously the color is off still.

Re: Newt Scamander's Boots from Fantastic Beasts.

Ok, it's been too long since an update! I've got a good one. Please ignore the odd coloring of the boot in the back, I tried airbrushing it to get it darker and it didn't go on evenly at all. The actual leather used will be a less shiny, darker brown. I've already chosen from samples a leather with a really good match.

And some other good news, I ended up going with a lower cost maker, so the price for the pair of boots will only be $150!

Those look great! I've been thinking about these off and on, but you can count me in as interested!

Just out of curiosity, what type and quality leather is being used for the boots?

Should be top or full grain cowhide. The leather in the pictures is ok quality, but it uses an oil based dye which gives it the wrong surface texture and look.

Very nice. I sell shoes as a part time sales associate, so I'm quite interested in the material, quality and the craftsmanship. I can't wait to see the final product!

Worse than Eccos, better than Walmart?
