Hi guys, well since Ive got into this prop game Ive been trying to think of a relatively easy project to attempt. Something cool but also something not to complicated given that this is my first go.
Ive been a huge Sledge Hammer (daft 80s Dirty Harry spoof show) for years and Ive always wanted to have his Magnum. Now I figured it would only be a matter of tracking down the correct replica and fabricating a new grip to match the original but with the UK laws (which I know nothing about) concerning replica guns, Im now corncerned it will be difficult to get one now.
Im not in an immediate rush to do this as Ive still got my 5E multipass kits to build up so for now Im just wanting to know if my idea is workable or not!! As Im the newest a newbie can be, I would love your opinions on materials for the handle etc if possible!!

Here is some pics of the gun for those who dont know it......

Id love to hear what you guys think

Thanks in advance

I remember years ago Battle Orders Ltd. used to carry the line of Brocock .177 and .22 pellet firing airguns, they had a decent looking Magnum model that could pass for Sledge's Hammer; Are those kind of airguns even available across the pond anymore? The Brocock guns had a unique design in which each individual shell was charged with propellant gas, and was released when the pin hit the "primer" valve...

Thanks for the help guys!!! The best one Ive spotted so far is the 6" Colt Python 357 Gas Revolver in Chrome from AirWarZone but there are a coupla subtle differences in comparison with the Sledge Gun. Ill keep on looking for now!!:love

Now what about the handle?? Would you recommend a full replacement or the more simple remodel and paint??

The Hammer artwork on the handle should be easy enough to replicate so Im not to bothered just now where that is concerned but I would like to get the handle itself correct!!!

Any suggestions???:cool

I never noticed this but is that artwork simply drawn on freehand? It looks like its just inked on there. You could try altering that image and printing graphics. Just apply the graphic to the handle, dont.
