hello everyone! I am putting together a couple of costumes from the anime/game Queen's Blade, and something that I am having a very had time figuring out how to construct are 2 of the characters "breast plates"...which are little more then armor plated bras. I thought that that may infact be a good route to take, attach metal to a bra or something for a base, but I have never worked with metal before, for any suggestions would be wonderful!

I have a ton of experince with sewing and fabric, and a little experience with foam and plastic armor...please treat me like the newb I am

here is a photo for reference

From an engineer´s standpoint I have to say, I see heavy structural problems in bringing that concept to real life.

From a fanboy´s standpoint I have to say, "hubba!" As will legions of fanboys if you pull that costume really off.

I´d say have a look at the threads that involve Iron Man foam armor making. You should also look at the threads about Don Robert´s costumes created by our member izabel.

EVA foam is another term you can search for.

No need to use real metal, might be too uncomfortable anyway.

Would agree with Naboo here. Foam could be the way to go here.

Although, I have no idea if this is possible but possibly get yourself a really skimpy bra and then sculpt them.

Although, do say be careful about revealing yourself too much. :p

Not sure how they do it but seems to me you could use the same method that people use for their Slave Leia ROTJ bikinis

I knew as soon as i saw "Queen's blade" and breast in the same sentence where this was going lol. I didn't know they had a videogame of it.

Would it be possible to sculpt them and then cast them in something more...comfortable? I'm no expert but the way they sit they would cut into your skin in a really strange way if you made them out of metal and end up looking really really unattractive.

I'm more concerned with how you're going to keep them up

resin would be the best bet but I agree they could prove rather uncomfortable even if you lined the insides with material.

Have to make sure the strap is tight otherwise they very well could slide out of place unless you use double sided tape like they do for slinky dresses at award shows and such.
