I am really curious how they are going to justify the look of the costume, i.e. what is the reason they come up with that Thor looks the way he does...

Maybe Stark Industries made this version of the outfit? Surely if there is part of the film set in Asgard, he will be wearing something a bit more viking-looking? This gear looks like motorcycle armor.

yeah, but you know what I mean. Strapping around the boots, cloth and polished steel instead of plastic looking armor etc. Maybe an "Errol Flynn" type viking look!

Looks like Thor is very intrested in new fassion...:unsure I was hopeing for a bit more realistic viking appearal.

You know, I gotta say....I like it actually. Maybe not what the true comic fanboys would like to see but it could be FAR worse!

boy the pr dept on these movies must be having a field day if there promotional art for toy,posters,tshirts.... etc etc are getting out like this.

not that I'm complaining cause they look awesome !

Could be worse. I want to see the helmet on him though....I have a bad feeling they won't even bother with one.

Anyone have any good resources for how to make his chainmail-like long sleeve shirt? Similarly, anyone know a good place to get/make those silver/blue bucklers on his chest piece? Thanks

I agree with the above statements. The guy is a Viking Norse God. He should look...well...more Vikingy.

I quite like it. He won't look weird standing next to IM or Cap on this. I do like the way they're trying to get all the outfits to flow with each other. Good idea.

Agreed. I like the overall scheme, but I feel the materials should be more organic. Less plastic and rubber. I hate the rubber sleeves and I hate the boots. Big rubber viking soles? eh.

The Chestpiece I can live with, but feel it should be more distinctly leather.

Might as well get used to it, this is how superheroes dress in movies now. Most costumes have a stylized tactical armor look to them...you'll almost always see a carbon-kevlar weave, black hardened rubber or polymer. The costumes look more expensive than costumes in the past, it adds to the glamour of superheroes...even their attire is super-human.

Xmen, Batman, Fantastic 4, even Superman's new suit had a more modern, detailed look to it. They look better on camera. The simple fact is while a superhero suit looks great in a comic book when it's stretched over enormous hand drawn muscles, the real life suit over a real person would look silly and spandex-y. Look at Christopher Reeve's suit...it was cool then, but it looks incredibly dated now. Suits like this seem more based in reality...space age materials we can't have, but we imagine they would have in the comic book world.

I know absolutely nothing about Thor as a character, so i'll be interested to see what the movie is about. I knew nothing of Iron Man before the movies and now i love the whole story.

Almost has a TDK batman look to it in areas like the chest and boots. With Helmsworth being 6'3" tall, they will probably pack some more weight on him too. I'd like to see a helmet on him at times also. We will probably see one on him in Asgard scenes I would think. I like the look of the costume also.

I already have some easy ideas for all parts of it, including the arms.

How do you plan on doing the arms and chest? I was looking a different types of fabric for the arms but if you have a better way I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
