"NEW TESB" YODA head (Completed)

That is just stunning. You are certainly quite the artist. I only wish I could afford a casting. Care to barter?

Beautiful, Cyb.

This has been a long time coming and I gotta say... Job well done.

Only minor qualm I have is that I liked the mouth more open with the teeth exposed, but I suppose if you run them in something flexible, that's something that can be added later with some minor tweaking.

very nice...

:eek Too incredible for words, the talent on these boards.
I'd be curious as to what a resin cast would run.......................................

Thats just one fantastic Yoda you have done there. :thumbsup

But I personally have one question. I think the lips should be more together, that way he looks more wise and determind if you know what I mean.

I did some work with it in photoshop and this is what I suggest, it´s just my thought ;)

Since this thread has kinda become a tutorial on how best to approach sculpting I thought an interesting idea would be to show how I create a basic silicone mold.

Heres the first layer of silicone that was applied with a fine brush to ensure all the detail has been picked up on the surface. It took 3 hours to cure... I'll apply three more coats of pure Silicone rubber (this ensures less likelihood of air pockets forming on the molds surface) before applying a thixo mixture to make the rubber less runny. That will build the skin up a 10 - 15mm.

Cyb.

As a Sculptor myself I have to say with all the work you put into this Sculpt,
I can easily say it's the best Yoda Sculpt I have ever seen to this date.. :thumbsup :thumbsup

Its a cruel act, I know... I'm so sorry :lol

very impressed phil, hats off.

i didnt like the mouth at all on your initial sculpt but i think you have nailed it now, along with the rest of the head..

:love

Cheers Chris :)

I think looking back at the older pics its just as well I didn't decide to mold it then. But by taking time over it and listening to peoples comments to help see past the rose tinted specks I think I've managed to get a closer representation than otherwise possible...

Oh and I'd like to thank a couple of guys for their brilliant reference pictures... They know who they are... The pictures I got were incredibly sharp screen grabs and very revealing Exhibition images. Their images were what ultimately led me to the finished result vis countless overlays and comparrision shots :thumbsup

absolutey spot on.

I have a question about the mold, i understand the building up of silicone layers but how are you going to key it into the mothermold to stop it flopping about ?

does that make any sense?

do you mean getting it back in the correct position or falling in on itself?

how about a comparison shot of the initial sculpt and the final sculpt just to show the alterations that were made?

should be quite interesting :thumbsup

I mean when the mold is empty, how do you get the silicone mould to stay stuck to the mothermold so when you move it, it doesnt come away and collapse in on itself.
